PayPal when are payments received?

When you pay someone for a product/service and send the payment to them by PayPal how long do they have to wait to receive the money, do Paypal hold onto it for a set time?

    Instantly, UNLESS the sender/receiver just signed up for paypal, eg. the very first money transaction. Then it can happen that a payment is under review for a couple or so days.

      In addition to the two posts above it depends on nationality - some countries require the same grace period as a check for transfers on debit/instant check payments, so you may have a holding period of 3-7 days.

      Either way, if you have the funds in your PayPal account prior to sending it then it it instantaneous.

    Once everything is set up it should happen as soon as the payment is sent. If the funds need to be verified then I have seen it take up to 3 days before the funds are released to the payee.

    if there is money in the paypal account it is instant, but if it has to come out of their bank account it can take a couple of days and will show as an e-cheque

      The account of the receiver should be verified already. If the sender sends the payment instant, then it will be get back by the receiver at once, if there is no any problem.
