Default need to create a dvd that plays in a standard dvd player

Hey Warriors,

I'm creating a course with video and want my dvds to be able to play in standard dvd player and not just the computer. Ultimately, I'm going to have this professionally done, but until I get a solid conversion rate, I'm going to do it from the office.

So, what's a file type I should use that'll work both in a computer's dvd drive and on a standard dvd player?

Thanks for your help!
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

A DVD that will play on a TV is not just a file type. It's a collection of files that you create with a DVD authoring program. I use a Mac, which comes equipped with iDVD. You can use Toast on either Windows or Mac. You might even find a free DVD authoring program with a Google search.

Once you have created a DVD that plays on a TV, most PCs come equipped with DVD player software that will play it on your computer monitor as if it were on TV.

Try this program Rebecca: Easy MPEG/AVI/DIVX/WMV/RM to DVD, Convert mpeg, dat, avi, divx, xvid, wmv, asf, asx,rm,rmvb to DVD (not an aff link, direct link to download trial version of program)

While I know the above is a free trial download, it's fairly inexpensive to purchase @ $29.95 and works for .avi, .divx, .mpeg, .wmv, and .rm file types, takes those and converts them to a DVD that is playable in most DVD players that can play "burned" movie files.
