Suggest Good Book About Web Hosting?

Hello everyone!

Any suggestions on a good ebook/learning resource about web hosting? I'm more interested in the seo web hosting part of it.

For example, I know that we can pay web hosting companies for an extra IP address. What I'm interested at is how do web hosting companies get these extra IP addresses and can a DIY home based hosting server get additional IP addresses as well?

Thank you in advance.

Here's a very in-depth book about web hosting, but it focuses more on the technical aspect as opposed to the marketing side of it: Web Hosting For Dummies:Book Information and Code Download - For Dummies

Most hosting companies get their IPs from the datacenter they house their servers at. IANA is the final authority when it comes to IP addresses though and is who a lot of datacenters have to deal with: IANA

Keep in mind that getting additional IPs is becoming harder and harder with the IPv4 shortage - and not many hosting companies are utilizing IPv6 yet.

Interesting. I already had the feeling that this won't be easy for DIY type hosting.

I've always wanted to run my own web hosting business, but I don't know too much about it since it does not get talked much about in this forum. However, I know there is one forum that dedicate to web hosting only at Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet. i think you would find the best advice from here

True. There are not many books on the subject from the big publishers. The For Dummies suggested by Escalate Hosting is just one of the very few. Publishers like Head First and The Missing Manual which are really good with technical subjects don't have one. HostGator has one but it's web hosting reseller specific.
