Your First Steps.... What Were they??

Hey,

I just wrote a reply in another thread and it occured to me that there seem to be alot more newbie style questions popping up lately and so it made me wonder.

What was your first steps??

Im of course talking about in the Internet Marketing world.

For me i created a gaming website and some proxy sites for my fellow school friends to use to unblock sites as well as ran a few MMORPG's that i made and developed myself. Then only recently did i get into affiliate marketing.

I was also wondering what site was your first point of call when you decided making money online was for you?? was it the warriorforum or another forum or site? why did you go there? etc etc

Im sure other people will find this information intriguing and for the more seasoned marketers im sure its going to be a big stretch to try and remember back to their first steps too.

This might also make some of you get off your ass and realize that you have wasted too much time so far and actually haven't progressed an awful lot.

Tom, you probably want to ask what were your first successful steps.

The reason I say this is because my first steps into IM were a total disaster
and not something I would want anybody to emulate. It took me into my
6th month to actually make any money at all.

Having said that, my first successful step was as an affiliate marketer of a
product that I really believed in. I think that was the key to my success as I
could talk about it with passion and enthusiasm and even personally
recommend it to people. I actually made more word of mouth sales from my
first month than through directing people to the sales page via any ads.

Had I not believed in the product and did things the conventional way, I
may have never been successful at all. Who knows? All I know is that it's all
      water under the bridge.

Ironically, I do still make many word of mouth sales today...even more so
      than back then.

Not sure why this is, but I'm not complaining.

You make a good point here actually.

I personally got stuck straight into it and there was no time lapse between earning and starting. However between then and now ive wasted alot of time doing nothing.

Word of mouth sales are great, especially when it gives you another backlink too.

Then i started free. Maybe a few blogs, one was pretty successful since I could promote it at work. Got myself familiar with adsense and associate programs, READ THESE FORUMS LIKE A BIBEL. Checked out clickbank and other stuff. Then found a great ebook and read more.

Now im going to take the next step and buy a domain and start trying to make some cash
