I guess Live isn't cutting the mustard for them.

And I'm sure some cherry farmer made a killing on that domain

Did anyone else notice that in the video that said "so you know you're not taking advice from a 13 year old boy" and showed a video of a girl?

MS is working overtime to control some part of SE market from Google. So far not successful.

I have close friends who are MS beta testers - but they don't talk openly about the software that they test. It's probably a restriction built into their "contract".

It seems that the public release will be very soon now - so if I decide to utilise it, I'm getting ready for the possibility of a multitude of hacks, crashes and OS failures, for a year or two anyway!

Sorry, perhaps I'm being paranoid.

Just my opinion.

Like Bing Says...
Not another search engine, but a decision maker.

"Bing gives you cash back from hundreds of online retailers."

Well, that phrase in the video leads me to believe that the search results will be skewed by *Microsoft partners* (emphisis mine) who will be invited or allowed to join an affiliate type program of some kind.

'Hundreds' appears to limit the choices consideribly. I guess that's why they are calling it a "decider".

So much for progress...

I honestly don't think this will catch on with the masses. Google will always be "the search engine" in my opinion.

They should have utilized existing brand awareness and called it "Vista for Search"

LOOOL!... Now that's pretty funny !

Do they seriously think they even have a chance? Don't they own MSN search already, now they need another one?

I actually like this new approach. First they give it a new name (Bing) so people can talk about it instead of simply being "the upgraded Microsoft's Live". The new name will give a nice separation from the current "not so popular" search engine and some people will never know it's run by the same Microsoft.

The whole design looks more aesthetic and simple, but notice lots of the new features will add elements of Social Media. People adding rating stars, reviews, comments and feedback.

I beleive it's something worthwhile waiting and this type of innovation will also raise the bar for Google (and others) to stay competitive.

It's something I will be looking forward to use.
