Email marketing: Gmail image blocking

Hi there Warriors!

Don't know if you've been following this story, but recent changes to Gmail may improve your open rates...

Gmail has recently changed their policy to display images by default instead of blocking them. This is good news if you're using images in your emails to try to encourage opening from the preview pane.

You can get more on this from the Aweber blog here. I have got a lot of useful info by subscribing to the Aweber blog so you may want to check it out.

I hope you find this useful

Yup they used to hide it at first, you manually had to let the images show up, this is good for marketing perspective. Images can increase open rate for sure.

But for people who mostly use their phones to open email, it doesn't really affect anything, cause the images would not show up at preview anyways.

This isn't going to have any effect on anything in my own personal opinion.

I like my readers to be interested in my content and open emails because they want to.

I'm not interested in readers who opened something because of 'shiny thing'

Just because you're grumpy about the impact on your business doesn't mean there is no value.

There isn't much of an argument that devaluates having images in emails auto showing. For the longest time there has been debate of plain text vs html emails and how they effect user engagement.

I'm interested to see how that debate's results changes from this, however its worthy to note not everyone uses Gmail.

Dont understand how does it impact open rate, you will have access to image only once you open the mail....once your promotion mail is opened change in display policy may help in further engagement...so it may help to improve your click rate...to improve open rate you ave to write catchy subject line ....
