When to bail on a project

Hey everyone- I put up a somewhat generic premade affiliate review site (in sig) about 2 months ago. It had reached number 1 in google for a main keyword. I have written 12 articles for it with 1689 views yet only 68 url clicks, very little traffic and no sales. At what point do I move on? Have I done enough? Is this a saturated niche? I have been told that doesnt matter as long as you are using the long tail. I dont think my articles are crap, I have completely re written them from very successful ones I have found in this niche. Is the site bad for converting? help a brother out! thanks again in advance for all the killer advice you guys give me.

a struggling but motivated newbie,

Brian

I suppose it all depends on that elusive quality - buying intent.

If your keywords are only used for research or finding out about a product you will never make a sale except by accident. My own opinion is that keywords are useful to get people to a site but the site must then engage the viewer and bring him to a 'buying' situation that is likely to result in a sale.

If the site only has articles, it is providing what the keyword browser is looking for - information.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

If it don't make dollars, it don't make sense (cents).

It seems as if this was a set-it and forget-it project. Depending on your skill level, it seems as if you can make several sites like this one, per day. If bailing out means deleting it all, then I say you shouldn't bail out; let it sit and see what happens. However a common newbie mistake is spending to much time on a project. Smart and successful people know when to quit. It seems as if it's time for you to quit on this project, and start a new one. Throw a bunch of stuff at the wall, find something that sticks, and run with it.

    Good luck bro
