What To Do With My Traffic?

I have a website that I built 1/1/13. Today it gets 200 unique visitors daily on average. It's an adult site and I just happened to find a very good domain name that was available, so I made a website for it and it took off almost immediately.

I maintained it for about 2 - 3 months until I ended up getting too busy with work and other personal stuff. So I just left it up since March without touching it. On it's own it grew very fast. Now I don't know what to do with it.

I heard that adult sites can be a big waste of time because it can be so hard to make money from them, but the traffic keeps increasing and I'm starting to feel like I should maintain the site and try to figure out how to monetize it.

I also have another adult website that gets traffic directly from that site, but only a fraction of the unique visitors. It is growing as well though because of the other sites popularity.

So if any of you have any ideas on what I should do, please let me know. I have enough on my plate as it is with work and my personal life, but I want to be able to finally quit my job someday because of what I earn online. I haven't made anything online really yet, but I think this could be something that can grow.

I work as a web developer and make a decent salary, but I just had a son and I want to spend lots more time with him. Working as a web developer demands a lot of my time.

I'd probably reach out to people or companies who may be interested in purchasing a link spot or banner ad spot on your site.

Have you been capturing those unique visitors' emails?

That should be your first priority so that you can nurture and respond to their desires. You've heard, no doubt, about the importance of building a relationship with your prospects?

Selling to people that know and trust you is far better than trying to sell to visitors unfamiliar with you and your style.

I hate to burst your bubble but 200 unique visitors is hardly enough traffic to make anything a viable option. I don't say this to be glib but unless your domain and site are targeted at a very, very specific niche then you probably won't have much success based on that alone.

That's not to say that it isn't a great starting point if you are serious about making money, but you're still going to have to do approach this a business that you will have to build from the ground up. The key to that? Knowing what your customers need that they don't have and delivering that to them.

What does someone visiting an adult website want? Love? A spouse? A date? Well sorry but no. They want to blow their load and get back to their lives. This is why the real money to be made in the adult industry has been, and will be, in content. Promising a better release and right now.

You seem to be constantly hanging on to the fact that you don't have time. You need more time. You could do better with more time. You want to have more time. It seems to be a very heavy weight on you that isn't leaving any time soon.

There is never a way to make more time. If you quit your job you aren't going to have a business just there, pumping cash into your pockets because you bought a domain. Even if you bought iwanttobuyporn.com and had 200,000 unique visitors a day it wouldn't magically put money in your pocket - you have to work out a plan if you want your business to succeed, and when you have that plan you have to work with a disturbingly focused approach to ensure that all of your objects are met in a well organized fashion.

So start with step one. Learn more about your customers. What do you they desire or need more than anything as they view your page? What price would they pay for that? Can you give that to them?

    Hi everyone,

Adult sites are not right choice but a lot people visit it.
But you can use your site in the moral way.

You can teach on your site that visiting such a sites it is a sin,
But I don't think it will make you money .

But it is your choice to be right or earn money not ethically

    Anyway all the best

    And see you on top

A lot of good responses here. Just to add, once upon a time I ran some adult domains and when I hit about 2k-3k a day uniques I started getting interest from advertisers wanting to purchase links and or banners which was easy money and didn't really seem to hurt the bottom line.

Create a popup that interacts with the user.

Make the script as advanced as possible ALA "Artificial Intelligence".

Interact with the end user, and prompt them to take action. (Maybe a dating CPA offer or something like that).

^Will work if you play it correctly.

    :]

    Good luck

If you manage to bring tons of traffic and attract them with stuff on your site you can start charging for memberships for full access to the site.
