What screencasting and video editing software do you use?

I am going to prepare a set of video tutorials and clips and I am curious to ask you about:

1. What software do you use to capture screen activity?
2. What software do you use to edit the final movie?

I would appreciate also links to download the software products you mention.

Hey Bill,

I use Camtasia Studio 6, and I usually edit and export right inside Camtasia 6.

Do you know alternatives of Camtasia? Free ones?

To capture I use Camtasia Studio,
and to edit I use Windows Movie Maker.

  There is absolutely no need to become a Codec Scientist with this stuff. Camtasia Studio for the PC has an excellent feature set, and I also have ScreenFlow on my iMac which I am now getting familiar with.

Hey Bill..

Check out Jing (Jing | Add visuals to your online conversations) for screen capture. Awesome free software but you can pay for a more detailed option (transfer to mpg4 etc). The free version is great anyway..
