Default Video Marketing Lessons from Commander Spock.

Here I am taking a topical search item , and combining it with my product marketing to make a credible (article and) video. With a little humor injected, and a big lead-in key word like "Gus Hansen" this video will likely get me 10,000 views over the first month - but I have been wrong before!

I am only placing it at this location on youtube, and not sending it out in an email. Hopefully the keywords, content and humor of the video will cause it to be passed around.

I will update its traffic in a month here.

I created the video using Camatsia Studio, Keynote 09, Power Point 07, Windows Media Center and Adobe Photoshop. I recorded at 640X480 and produced the video from Camtasia as an FLV 8 and then uploaded it directly to youtube. It took me about a day and a half.

Yes, sorry either one will do depending on your system. I basically wanted to get some experience with Keynote 09 because my iMac is relatively new and entirely underused at this point.

I actually discovered that you can export the keynote presentation into a power point file - i just sent it to my PC then did the recording for the video on Camtasia Studio, which is a PC program.

Anyway, I will detail the way I built this video a bit later.

Wow! How do we get permission to use their copyrighted footage for advertising our products?

That would be way cool! I can think of many uses for it. How did you do it?

Ha, that's a great example of how to make a video stand out with creativity. I don't know anything about the legalities of it, but I'm certainly taking note of the concept. Thanks.

My lawyers called their lawyers... LOL. Really I just used the stuff. As you can see some of the clips were actually taken from other youtube videos. I have never just posted a pure movie or TV clip, but if you search for Star Trek on YT you will thousands posted by individuals.

The only time YT has contacted me about copyright was for music in the bg of some of my other videos. I just had to change them. Oddly though, only some songs from particular labels have given notice. BMG for example. Other songs have been noted by YT, but they said I didn't have to do anything with the video.

Hi Don,
As long as you bring a lot of your own content to the table, there isn't usually a problem with copyright... (in youtube's eyes).

I'm pretty sure anyone can legally create a parody of any work without permission, however for marketing purposes it might be a different story.

Just had my first $200/month with affiliate sales!!! Woohoo!!! :)
