For those that have actually hired a logo designer...

Who is doing the best job at logo design these days? I see lots of offers on here, but I'm guessing some are better than others!

Thanks...

Well, I've gotten lots of PMs from logo designers but I was kinda hoping to hear from someone that can recommend someone that they have actually used.

    Oh well...

I can design logos - but in the past I have used the 99 Designs service to have people bid on logos. You'd have to pay around 200 and up but the work is seriously good quality.

Lin is right, 99 Designs is the way to go. I got a sensational one for $300, and one of the runners up was so good I contacted him separately.

Another service you might want to try is Design Outpost. It's a place where you can bid however much you want to pay for the logo and the designers will compete with each other to win the bid. You choose which logo you like the best, and that designer is rewarded the project. I've used them in the past for my logo, and it turned out great.

I second this. 99Designs.com is great because you can see many different variation. And people are trying to out do other people so your logo can only get better as a contest runs for your design. Check them out. Look at paying close to $150-200 just for a logo though.

Your guaranteed no stock logos due to 99Designs terms.

If you really want to exploit designers than go to 99 Designs. understand that a lot of people think that these contest sites, devalued the designer. 90% of the designs will get will be amazing, and each and every designer should get paid for his or her work.

I have had dozens of logos designed.

I have used freelance sites like Elance, Guru, and others.

I have used logo design firms.

I have also used contest-style, spec design sites like 99 Designs, crowdsourced sites too.

If all depends what you want. Cheap? Design that really captures the look you want or the "feel" you want?

I would suggest you pick out a dozen or so logos that you like - it will give you designer a good feel of the style and feel you are looking for. Be incredibly specific with your description of what you are looking for.

Sounds obvious, but it is sound advice.

I would also start to look at the hiring of any freelancer as a potential permanent addition to your team - I have hired designers for a lot of work that I was connected with through a crowdsourced site.
