How do you get paid $150+ per article?

Threads such as Warriors, Would You pay $150 Per Article seem to make it clear that yes, it is indeed possible to make $150 per article and even more (some people are making much more).

But it's also pretty clear that this isn't done by just sitting in front of the keyboard and banging out content. There's evidently a skill and a strategy involved that some people have and others just don't have, and this is in addition to being able to write grammatically correct and properly structured articles and content.

I know it's possible because I have one client who pays me $0.20 per word for Human Resources topics and it works out to about $133 an hour. They seem quite happy to pay this - I've been doing it for them for close to 2 years - but it's only 2-3 hours per week, and I haven't been able to find more like that.

What I'd like to know is if Warriors who have reached or exceeded this level consistently would be willing to share the skill set and strategy needed to get there. What do writers need to learn and what strategies should they apply to find and qualify for these high paying gigs?

If the site makes good money, $150 is not alot to them and if the article is good the money has been well spent.

I saw the other day WPMU offer up to $500 per blog post -

Unfortunately, it's not even close to being that simple.

Something's missing here. I'd happily type away at my keyboard and write half a dozen quality articles, but they would just be sitting in a folder in my computer. What's next? That's what's missing - what's the strategy to use?

Besides quality, depends on what niche you are writing article for. You can't get good money writing articles and reviews if the niche market is competitive and also if you have a proven experience.

Listverse pays $100 per article, but the process of review is difficult to get accepted.
