Another small victory and some encouragement

Hey guys, just wanted to share something cool that happened to me today, and hopefully offer some encouragement to other "newbies" like me who may be struggling.

I was cruising the War Room one day and came across someone giving away a product teaching how get yourself onto the Amazon Kindle market. The training product taught step-by step instructions on how to format your article or book and post it on the KDP platform.

I didn't have an e-book but I wanted to walk through the process and learn how by actually following along and doing the steps. So I simply chose one of my blog posts and used that.

I successfully posted the article to Kindle, put a .99 cents price on it, wrote a disclaimer explaining that it was NOT a full length e-book but an article, and that the article was available free on my blog (all great advice I got from here by the way). Then I went "Ok, now I know how to do that", and forgot about it. With the intention of course, to come back to the course again when I was ready to write an e-book.

I didn't advertise in any way and didn't even put a cover on the thing. I was just doing it to learn how. My intent wasn't to sell it really, just to learn another marketing skill by actually doing it.

That was last year some time. Today I got an e-mail from Amazon explaining that I had made a few sales! Nothing to brag about, only 4 or 5 amounting to a couple of dollars or so.

But I post these little stories not because they'll impress anyone, but because small victories like these encourage me so much and I hope they'll encourage others who are perhaps new to all this like I am, and maybe questioning whether or not any of it works. There are a lot of people whom, if they could just make their first dollar they'd have all the proof and encouragement the they need to keep going.

I haven't made hundreds of thousands yet, but I've made a few thousand over the course of this year. Not in huge overnight influxes of cash, but in a few sales and a few success here and there. And what I've learned is that, for me at least, the key is focusing my time and efforts not on the get rich quick, magic bullet stuff but the courses and products that teach you the basics of internet marketing and help you accomplish those things.

You can make money on-line but there are skills you must learn. Internet Marketing basics. It takes TIME. But must of the wso's you see are useless if you don't first know the basics.

I didn't start seeing any "success" on-line until I admitted to myself I had no clue how to effectively do on-line marketing.

This kind of advice is posted all day every day here by people who make a full time living doing internet marketing. But sometimes advice from someone you can't relate to is hard to take or even believe.

So as someone in a tough, non-im related niche that has nothing to do with making money on-line and who is relatively new to all this, let me tell you that it can be done and it does work. But not until you dismiss all notions of push-button, over-night success and making money quick.

You probably won't see things happening until you choose one direction; one business model; one niche; and then learn all you can about how to market that one effectively. Things get real clear when you do that, trust me.

All the information overload, confusion and shiny object syndrome start to go away when you get really focused on choosing one thing and learning all you can about how to market and promote and build that one thing. Only then can you see any success with this stuff, in my opinion. But if I can manage to make a little money in this niche, I believe anyone can in any niche. Hang in there!

Merry Christmas everyone,
Ron

Thanks for sharing this. I agree it's important to apply any information you find in an ebook and stick with it until you actually set it up properly and begin to make some money. I remember when I just started I used to try so many things while never really sitting down and focusing on one thing.

I had a mindset shift after buying lots of products and not really making any decent money. I knew that I had to change what I was doing. Once I began to make goals and focus on one business model or method, I began to create a consistent income, while acquiring the skills to be a successful online marketer.

Thanks for sharing! Small successes are great because they open your mind to what's truly possible if just stick with it and work a little harder.
