Greetings,

I am full time real estate investor who is getting into internet marketing as a hobby and had a quick couple questions....

I have an ebook I want to publish that I am writing now and want to know what is the best template to use (wordpress?).

Ideally I just want a one page website with a long form sales page where I can write a lot of good copy and also has paypal/credit card info. If wordpress is best what plugin should I download or buy?

Thanks!

I recommend you sale your ebook on Kindle publishing depending on it's subject. You'll have a better chance of making money long term without the stress of having to promote your website completely. It's not as easy as it might seem!

You don't mentioned what kind of topic your book is one so it depends on the topic and where your target market buys. So for example if your topic is about money making -- you can sale your product here and grow into a website as you build your list.

Wordpress is great for making all kinds of websites. Look at themeforest.com for tons of different once page websites. You can also find some highly affordable themes on this website with some good hunting.

Best of luck with your book and Happy Holidays!

      Thanks great info.

I could do that with kindle and probably will however my main goal is to just sell 1 ebook online with a squeeze page to get the whole process from start to finish down. The topic is a "how to" topic with a good amount of searches a month. Thanks you too!

If you want to sell your Ebook from your own hosted sales page there are two main ways to do this. Get a mini-site HTML template, edit this with Kompozer, or Expression Web (both free tools) upload to your hosting account. OR Use something like the old version of OptimizePress (WordPress plugin) and generate your sales page. I recommend the HTML template, this is easy and cheap and very effective-once loaded, drive traffic to the page URL-Facebook ads, PPC, solo . PM me if you want some HTML templates, or other advice.

You can sell on Amazon Kindle AND on your own website at the same time. The only prohibition against doing that is that if your ebook is available anywhere outside of Amazon, you will not be able to participate in Amazon's KDP Select promotional program. Using both will give you access to more potential customers.

If you are only doing a single sales page and a buy button, I would bypass WordPress altogether and just build the site in HTML.

If you want to utilize a system that ensures that the transaction is valid, before granting access to a download, I would recommend either GetDPD.com or ClickBank.com.

GetDPD is a monthly subscription. I use it to process transactions for me, for half a dozen products. It is very reliable.

ClickBank will be a bit more expensive to use, except it will open your product to be capable of being sold by thousands of affiliates. I think ClickBank actually has more than 100k participating affiliates, although most of those folks would not actually be promoting your product specifically.

I think you're confused about what you're doing. You want to publish a book and you're asking if Wordpress is the best template to use? Typically ebooks are not published on Wordpress. Usually they are written in Word or OpenOffice and then published in pdf format.

WordPress can be used to make your published book available online. Yes, you can have a one-page web site from which you sell your ebook on WordPress via a long page sales letter.

There is no need for a plugin (although there are many "store" fronts available) to sell just one book from a WP web site. I would just use something like e-Junkie to handle the financial transaction and product delivery from your WordPress selling site.

    Good luck to you,

WP is a great (and in my opinion, the only) choice if you're running a website.

If your eBook is priced any higher than $20, you could also try becoming a Clickbank vendor and recruiting affiliates to promote it (ClickBank - non aff).

Depending on your niche, you might want to try out Kindle. Amazon works for some niches, but not for most.

I agree with Steve, think your getting confused, PDF is the way to go.

Wordpress is a great website script, but seems like way over kill if your just looking at a couple pages. As others said, just get a nice HTML or CSS template.

If you don't want to host it, make a site with Weebly, a "what you see is what you get" platform. This is how I made my first money online. I bought the rights to a $37 ebook, made a quick site on Weebly (I basically just copied and pasted the supplied sales page) and marketed in my signature on other IM forums. It's still out there somewhere. Made about 125% profit!

If you really want to make money, you should reconsider. Instead of an ebook anyone can swipe after buying (and refunding), offer a webinar series along with Skype follow ups. More money. More branding potential. More upsell opportunities.

You should sell your E-book on Amazon Kindle or ClickBank.

There are a few people out there that teach you how to be a best selling author on Kindle/Amazon. I got my book to #6 on the business best-sellers list in less than 12 hours. Some of the people that teach the techniques do so for a reason, it boosted our sales of all our products tremendously and gave a lot of prestige to our business.

I’ve taken a lot of the high dollar courses that are out there and most of them fell short. We learned a few things and eventually devised methods that work for us. We do a lot of carefully constructed video marketing. I wish I could list all the details on every technique we use, but I would fill pages on that alone. It took us several years an a lot of testing to create a number of methods that brought people in organically.

I’d look at going bigger with your product offering and include content/products on related subjects by other experts. (e.g. Wholesaling, Sub-to’s, Hard Money Lending, Fix n Flippers) even if you are an expert, broaden your “affinity” content experts. Selling an ebook only goes so far, you need to think product lines and line extensions now and build credibility with multiple experts.

eBooks are becoming passé and most of our clients are going very heavy in video instruction and more in the area of “how to” documentary style programming. Show people, don’t tell them. Since we have done a lot of national TV, it was an easy transition to creating high value content that is also entertaining, so people keep wanting to come back and pay for more.
