Guest blogging: Looking for guest bloggers or guest post? Join MyBlogGuest!

The above website has a forum where you can find blogs who need guest authors.

Search Google for <your niche> "guest post" (with quotes) or <your niche> "write for us".

The problem with myblogguest is that there are so many people using it that you're not really getting a competitive advantage getting links from bloggers that use that service. Moreover, depending on your niche, you might have to wait a long time until a blog offers to publish your post. Chances, the one blog asking to publish your post has no PR or posts tons of other guest posts.

Considering how rampant link removal requests are nowadays and how liberal people are with the disavow tool, I'd be very very discriminating as to who to solicit to publish my guest blog posts. Blame it on Penguin and Hummingbird... The blog guest post game has changed.

I'm sorry to say, but I do have to agree with you :p.

I was only able to find ONE blog with a PR higher than one - I guest posted on it.

I think your approach is all wrong. It's been proven for years and years that the best way to find a job is to find a company you like first and then court the company so they become inspired to hire you rather than to submit your resume for a posted job along with a thousand others.

Apply the same thing to guest posting. Instead of trying so hard to find blogs looking for guest posts, find good blogs first, court them (like dating) by making intelligent replies in comments to their current blog posts, and then approach them a couple of weeks later that you have content of value that their readers would appreciate. The number of blogs I guest write for is only one or two every few months, but I can't even remember the last time I was turned down using this approach. And, I average 800-2,000 visitors to my website every time.

From a blog owner's perspective, it's darn hard to come up with truly amazing content every single day. Almost everyone I know in my blog arena would welcome a guest blog opportunity if the content really was unique, of high value that hasn't already been written about a hundred times, and had some clout behind the content. Meaning, your signature line will be important.

One thing you are missing is that it all depends on how selective the author is. Unless you target a set number of guest articles a month (which you shouldn't), you can get as selective as your content quality allows.

All you really need to do it to publish the articles you really love (Making sure you are comfortable with all the links in it).

Also, I am sorry to say but Hummingbird has nothing to do with it (unless I didn't get what you were saying, sorry!)

Low quality is always easy to notice as it comes in higher numbers. In reality, we have been doing a great job giving high-quality blogs more visibility within the network. The Articles Requests feature is one of those efforts and we only allow real community-driven blogs with distinctive voice there!

    Bing? :p

Seriously, the best places are not the ones available to everybody and their brother. The best places are the ones you dig out for yourself.

One way to find places that use outside content is to use EzineArticles.com. Find articles on topics like yours, written by writers with similar skills and voice. Look for where that writer is published.

If the blog/site/ezine meets your criteria, make contact and start a discussion with the owner/publisher about overlapping interests and either guest posting or swapping posts, even if they're open to republishing some of your existing posts that might match their audience.

THE MOST EFFECTIVE GUEST POSTING I've ever seen happens when the guest poster does the following

      1) Creates a list of the top 20 MOST AUTHORITATIVE blogs in a target niche. Clue: PR does not necessarily mean authority

      2) Posts without a link for quite some time. Posts are AUTHORITATIVE. What does that mean? The posts actually add valuable information to the post being commented on and CHALLENGES the readers.

      3) Once the poster gets enough CREDIBILITY, the poster works with the blog owners to add input/feedback to the owners' posts. What is CREDIBILITY? When other members of the blog ask you to chime in. Now, that's clout.

      4) Submit a guest post that is NOT based on keywords. This is key. Sadly, too many posts on MBG and other guest post exchange platforms focus on the needs of the LINK BUILDER not the needs of the READERS of the blog the posts will go on.

      5) Takeaway? Focus on building a BRAND first.

Thanks. I'm this right now, and it's harder than it sounds. In most cases, the writers either aren't published outside of EZA at all, or searching for their name turns up self-promo sites. (I made the mistake of trying this strategy with Sean Mize... )

So far I've been doing searchers for "by AUTHOR NAME" -- anyone have a better way?

Just write some original "killer content" and publish it on your own web site, or even on a free blogging facility, then advertise your link. It's as simple as that. No need to beg anyone for favors - on the Internet, anyone can be a publisher.
Guest blogging and syndication are not replacements for putting killer content on your own site. Both practices are supplemental, and intended to build the audience for that main site.

In other words, both are really a traffic strategy. You are using the guest post or syndicated article to put your content in front of a targeted, engaged audience that someone else has already done the hard work of building.

Someone reads your guest post or article, likes what they see, and follows the link in the author bio back to your own site. You can still put most of your content on your own site. But putting a sample of your best work on other sites helps build your core audience.

Yep. Should have mentioned this before. I search on the article title, the title + author name or a snippet of the article covering about ten words over two sentences.

That way, you find sites that published a particular article, rather than the results of someone who may have scattered thousands of articles when doing so for backlinks was really still effective.

  • Most blog out there accept guest post once you can create killer content. what you can do is look for blog that is receiving a lot of traffic and then e-mail the blog owner

you can search for "niche + write for us". A lot of sites that accept writers and have a standard policy have a write for us policy.
