I would personally recommend using Lime Light CRM.

With them, you'll need your own merchant and gateway... but it's worth it.

With Lime Light, you can do everything you need with the re-billing - and also do one click upsets, downsells, and give you full ability to customize the entire process.

Now... if this is (too much) for you - I completely understand.

If you want something to do this much easier for you... you can use:

or Clickbank

They all offer exactly what you want as well.

Prob with paypal is, it allows a minimum of 2 cycles of recurring payments; i need just one.

Sounds like a subscription service. Any ecommerce that supports subscriptions should be able to do it, try RegNet a subsidary of Digital River use to do that.

I think you can do this with Nanacast.com, we use it with our membership but I haven't delved into all the features yet and from the looks of it there are a lot, including trials and memberships, as that's what we use ($9.95 month), It definitely has a learning curve to it though. I think you would create a $1 "coupon" that expires but I'm not sure.

Can you do this with Clickbank as the merchant? If so, look at Digital Access Pass which gives you a ton of flexibility and integrates with click bank. Not as easy as some others but man is it powerful.

I have a system that is free to add products and I set up a test to see if it will do what you want.

I set the test in PayPal's sandbox to do a free 1 day trial and then bill the customer one time the next day.

The trial can be set up for any amount and then will rebill at the end of the trial period. It uses PayPal's adaptive API so it also pays instant commissions.

I will not know the results of the test until tomorrow because the first day is the trial and the second is the after trial payment.

I believe this test will be successful because with PayPal's adaptive API with chain payments does not depend on PayPal to do the rebilling. My software rebills at the agreed to payment cycle.

When the customer goes to PayPal they are really just preapproving the upcoming payment. When the time comes for the customer to pay, my software bills their PayPal account.

Since my software has been instructed to bill one time after one day and the customer has agreed to the billing, it should happen as programmed.

I will be able to give you the results of the test on New Year's day. Then I will tell you where this service is since it is probably the only software that will do what you want. I hope. As I have never tested it with your scenario.

An update on the test, PayPal did accept the preapproval so tomorrow we'll see if my software does the rebilling of just one payment. So far the test is working as anticipated.
