Extremely boring product, social media and list building seems irrelevant

So much advice seems to be based around list building and social media marketing. If your product is extremely boring, and a "once off" purchase, with no potential to follow or recommend to friends, and no potential for some viral humorous post, then what is the advice?

Let's assume you're an affiliate marketer promoting a very unexciting 'once off' purchase item, how do you you do it?

Why would you want to market a boring product anyway? not very good if your goal is to make money from it??

I agree. It is difficult to promote a product you don't believe in at the best of times.

Maybe you can start by showing some enthusiasm...

Or you can just not promote it.

As others have mentioned, your lack of enthusiasm is showing. You seem to be looking for an excuse not to do social media or build a list.

The product itself may very well be a one-off product. But you can't build a business strictly on a one-off product. If you want to build a real, sustainable business, then you'll want to find related products and services to sell to these people. And to do that, you'll need to build a list.

You seem to be missing a fundamental principle of building a successful, sustainable business: It's infinitely easier and cheaper to sell additional products and services to your existing customers than it is to find more customers for your existing products. The lion's share of effort and money is invested on the front end, in finding customers in the first place. If it costs you $0.50 to find a customer and your profit is $1, why on earth wouldn't you WANT to sell to that exact customer another thing for $1 profit? Now instead of making just $1 profit, you've made $2 for a cost of $0.50!

Without building a list, you're continually making $1 for a cost of $0.50, instead of $2 for a cost of $0.50!

That's just an example for the sake of illustration. Truthfully, it almost always costs any business more to get a customer than they'll recoup on the first sale. So if you're not building a list and selling to them over and over again, you'll NEVER be in profit.

Seriously, list-building is a fundamental business activity and is NOT optional. Without it, you're constantly looking for new customers for your stuff, instead of tapping your existing customers for income over and over again.

      Hope that helps!
