registering a business name, is it easy

hi, I work full time mon-fri in a factory and as im trying to make extra money online im just putting final touches to my new first software product.

what im wanting to know, I think I need to register my name so paypal displays a business name instead of personal.
im not sure what I need to do.

do I need to contact the tax office, companies house etc or as im just starting out how do I go about things.

im not leaving my job yet so can I be self employed as well as employed.

how much does it cost to register a name

    Strongly suggest you see an accountant for an initial consultation and to get some advice/guidance on your options - self-employed status or forming a limited company. There are pros and cons to each which the accountant will go through with you.

    Seek out a few accountants local to you and have a chat. Many will offer a free initial meeting. Get some advice, get yourself and your business set up right from the "off".

    When I first started, I formed a company by paying a company online to do the leg work for me. Since then, I have decided to forego using that company and just handle everything as a sole proprietor.
