Is comment spam on the rise?
Seems like lately I am getting these huge link dump comment spammers putting 2 pages of links into my blog comments. I never approve them but they keep flowing.
I wonder what life is like for the sweat shop workers who crank this stuff out... |

any new thing that happens on the internet, spammers soon or later tries to make money with it... links, comments, videos (redirecting users to their website by publishing website url inside video), etc...
it will always be like that... cat and mouse! |

I get about 100-140 spam comments a day

If you use wordpress the basic plugin Akismet has worked fine for me in the past from not allowing spam comments on a blog I ran a year ago.

I've been having this problem a lot lately as well. Seems like the last couple weeks have gotten out of control. Akisemet isn't catching most of it either. So I just log in once a day and delete them all. There is also an IP banner you should look in to for wordpress. I banned two ips and the spam slowed down for the most part.
It doesn't help that I have a do follow blog. Kris |
