Lets assume the creators of sites like reddit, but more specifically icanhazcheeseburger were broke IM'ers to start. How would/did they drive traffic to it initially and turn it into the million user traffic it is today?

If some broke WF had an idea similar how would he drive traffic to an undescribable niche like them?
