Which Video Equipment Is Best For My Latest Venture?

I'm building a mini TV studio to broadcast a weekly online show.
Trust me, this will not rival anything in Hollywood, but a new frontier for me nonetheless.
This is a big step for me, graduating from a Sony Cybershot....LOL...to producing a higher quality product

Question:
What is the most cost-effective solution for video equipment?

I'm specifically interested in your advice on what camera to purchase that will be high quality but not a bank account buster.

As always, thanks for your great insight

I shoot to miniDV tape. You might want to get a miniDV
camera that does hi-def but I don't really think high quality
video is as important as having clear sound...

Which is why, whatever you do, you should get a camera
    with a microphone input jack.

I shoot my HD video with a high end DSLR still camera (Canon 5D MKII). THey now make cheaper DSLR's that do the same.

I suggest that route because it allows for a nice soft focus which you normally only get with high end film.

I would suggest a low-end HDV camera, Sony is probably your best option there - and a good tripod with a spirit-level inside - Then I would get a video marketer (such as myself!) to make a video intro and outro to all of your videos, as well as some lower thirds, so you have some nice branding for your videos - so people always know it is you, and associate that branding with quality and your videos
