1 bit of advice you'd give to a newbe

Hello, this is my first post although I have been a member for a while. I have read, watched and listened to lots about internet marketing but now I feel I am standing on the edge of the see not sure how to dive in. So if you could give me one tip of advice as what to do first, what would it be. I know I need to take action. Thanks in advance.

I hate to sound like a downer, but I'd give you the advice to search the forum for words like newbie and the like - there are thousands of these kinds of threads, no doubt, some good ones even stickied - where you could find so much valuable information that your brain might fall out of your head.

So get a good idea of what it really takes to get started in what you want to do, then visit the forums as little as you can and take action.

One tip is to definitely brush up on your grammar. I seriously mean that. Proper grammar, word choice, and spelling are too often overlooked. Too many simple mistakes can ruin your credibility, especially if you plan on writing anything yourself, such as emails or newsletters.

I may just be a grammar nazi though :p, so take it as you will.

A piece of more typical advice would be to develop your plan before you get started. Working with no direction often leads to running around in circles and wasting tons of PRODUCTIVE work time!

        1) Build a list,
        2) monetize it,

follow these two rules when in doubt, go to Rule 1,

Make a PLAN, which involves actually SELLING SOMETHING (whether your own product or services, affiliate products, or advertising), and than TAKE ACTION on following through with the plan.

If you are completely new, and you have absolutely no idea what "making a plan" entails. Carefully select a product (eBook, online course, etc.) to buy that can get you started. When I say "carefully", I mean make sure to fully research the product and make sure you know what you will be expecting to gain from it.

Once you have selected a good learning tool, make a solid plan and follow through with it. Do not jump from one idea to the next. Rather, give your well-thought out plan your full focus for at least 6 months before deciding to drop it, alter it, or stick with it.

In my opinion, two options: affiliate marketing and service giving business (if you have some skill). If you choose affiliate marketing, try launch jacking. It is the simplest money you could make online. If service giving list your gigs in Fiverr and try to promote your gig even by private messaging Fiverr users. Best wishes.

Treat affiliate marketing like it were a 1st or 2nd job...Schedule yourself to work certain hours per week and expect results form your work!

It's easy to 'work' and browse websites for hours at a time ;D

It's not as if you're going to do anything with the advice you get anyway. You've already proved that by not taking action with the hundreds of tips you've picked up in the last year and a half on the forum. Do you think "one" more is going to make a difference? It won't - and you know it.

Stop fooling yourself. It's not a tip you need, it's a plan.

Happy new year, make it a good one.

    Declan.

You just have to make a decision to choose a business model and take action. In the beginning it feels uncomfortable and strange but that is because you're going to do something that you're unfamiliar with. After taking consistent action everyday you will begin to understand things better.

You can read the forum all-day but success can only be achieved by taking action and actually doing something.

    Stop reading the posts.

    You've spent enough time here.

Take action, and don't look back. It's okay if you make mistakes. It's okay if you bomb your first website/niche.

Just learn from it, and keep taking action!

    Hi smalldog,

I would like to give you two bits of advice about how to start with Internet marketing:

    1) Learn how to install a Wordpress blog. Wordpress is the easiest content management system, in my opinion. You should be able to find many tutorials on WordPress on Youtube or by doing a simple search.

    2) Become a Clickbank affiliate so you can promote their digital products. Clickbank is the easiest affiliate network to join.

These are just two bits of advice, but of course there is a lot more to it, especially about getting traffic. You may find interesting offers here at the Warrior Forum.

Good luck to you in your new venture!

There's so much choice and it's easy to try lots of things at the same time. Resist that temptation.

Focus on one thing and stick with it. What are you interested in? If you do something you're not interested in, you won't stick with it.

You have to define what you want to do. Think about what you're passionate about and then decide whether you want to operate a blog, forum or website. Once you've decided plan what you want to do and set up your site. It's much easier to operate a site if you are passionate about the subject matter. Make it a hobby first and then move towards a profitable business.

Seems odd that you've been a member for a while but still dont know where to start. Find a niche, get a squeeze page, drive traffic, find product, convert in email newsletter.

I agree with the ACTION, ACTION, ACTION.

There is so little thinking involved. If you want anyone to take a shot the game is simple. Anyone here can tell you. You already know more than you need to know.

If you do not have a product or service at the ready then pick one from Clickbank and get to work.

Find a mentor to help you.

Even though a lot of these people may seem tired of answering this question there are many (and some in this post even) who will help you the second you start to help yourself.

I have found that if you just keep walking and do the WORK AND THE ACTION you soon find the winners club too!

Buy a domain name with the keywords that you're going for. That's one way to rank in the top 10 of Google.

Another tip. Conversions happen when you target the people who are likely to want what you're offering. Mass marketing is spam even if it isn't defined as that.

Learn and understand the fundamentals of running any kind of business. The plannning you need to do. I mean not just thought of in your head but written down on paper. You should create yourself around 3 to 5 goals and set a specific date when you will reach each and then you start planning your day to meet your goals in the end. You'll be building yourself a very strong foundation by taking this approach and almost guaranteeing success! First you'll need to learn why you can make money online. You know, supply and demand! Then it's learning about the research that needs to be done so you can approach that demand and supply it with what people want. Once you have that together then you need to step in front of people or anotherwords get traffic. If I had to start again, having the big picture in mind I would reverse engineer things a little and start with learning how to get traffic. Once I could consistently get traffic to any url I wanted then I would put my business together and kick butt...

    Hi,

    1. Create products that are in demand and sell them to a hungry market.

    2. Capture the email addresses of those buyers and add them to a buyers list.

    3. Build relationships with your lists, add value, give to them and make more
sales at the back end by recommending related affiliate products to them.

    4. Create more products around your results.

    5. Add more buyers onto your buyers list.

    6. Repeat step 3.

And so on it goes until you have a massive list of buyers so that every time
you launch a new product some of them will buy and that will give you REAL
momentum and attract affiliates to promote your too.

You need to get your feet wet though and actually TAKE ACTION!

Once you have momentum there really is nothing that can stop you from
seeing your incomes grow month after month.

But you've gotta keep your head down and keep motoring forwards
using the system I've just given to you.

Creating products and building HUGE buyers lists is the way to go but
you have to get away from all the noise here especially and don't listen
to the negativity that can only drag you down.

I've just noticed others having a bit of a dig at you and it's a real shame.

I really hope you do take action and set yourself some goals and get
    going in 2014.

I can guarantee that once you make your first few sales you'll never
want that feeling of success to leave you.

Have a fantastic day and good luck for 2014.

    Gavin

My best advise is simply "Just do it". Stop thinking about making money and just make money. Sure, you will probably fail the first time. And the second, and third and maybe even fourth. But eventually you will succeed, where as you would not have if you spent your whole time thinking about doing, but not actually doing.

A very important suggestion is to focus on one thing that works. One of the main reasons for failure in Internet marketing, or for that matter in any endeavor in life, is lack of focus and jumping from one thing to another - I have been guilty of that myself! And I'm sure I'm not the only one.

    Good luck in 2014!
