Their servers are down. There's a post on their forums about it.

Seems like Bluehost is down too. Hopefully they're back soon!

Looks like they are. I've been trying to connect to customer support and can't. Just tried chat support and a box popped up saying they are having server troubles.

ah great so I am not the only one having problems with them right now too?

I know it is a lot to ask but who has fast hosting that is cheap and extremely reliable that you have actually had experience with?

And when I say fast I mean can handle a serious load of traffic without shutting down.

I think I am about done with the gator.

I think I am about done with the gator.

I chose GoDaddy. One of my data backup servers is with them. It has never gone down once. Not sure if your looking for dedicated, VPS, or Shared. But I just got 3 dedicated boxes for a year @ $2159 each. Thats considerably less than what I was paying HostGator so I imagine there VPS and Shared plans are good as well.

I have 3 dedicated boxes with HostGator. All of them are down. This is enough for me. I just called a different company and bought 3 new boxes. Prepaid for a year. I have had it with HostGator.

Its more like a 75% up time now, pretty crap service. This was the last straw for me, I'm now going migrate to new hosting AGAIN.

When this is over make a refund request. HostGator will not voluntarily credit your account and make good on their guarantee, but they will if you submit a request.

The owner of 300im recommends HostGator and Bluehost, but the site can now only be accessed in web cache because it's hosted on Bluehost. Funny?

Not sure if it's just me or not, but that site you linked to took forever to first load. You might want to talk to BlueHost about that, as that seems to be where it is..at least where the MX records resolve to..

EDIT: After further checking, it appears to be 999 domains on that same server. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that's the problem, as most other links I visited on that same server showed the same results.

  You're not the only one. It seems a lot of people been sharing the same sentiments since they were taken over by EIG with consistent down time.
  
  IF you're looking for shared hosting you might want to try:
  NameCheap - Currently using them, it's pretty good. Reliable uptime, real support. Though they don't go above and beyond
  Stable Host - cheap prices, fast servers, good support. We used them before and it was good
  VeeroTech has some good feedback as well and their prices are reasonable; best of all because they are here on the forum you can hold them more accountable.

Host Gator's servers go down from time to time, for the most part they are pretty good and I've never had any major issues with them. If they continue to get worse on your behalf I would contact support.

"time to time" - their entire datacenter has been offline multiple times in the past few months, almost "full days" at a time.....:confused: It's almost becoming a monthly recurring theme now... I'd suggest monitoring your sites more closely.

I had setup pingdom to watch one of my sites hosted at HG and this are the cold facts (6 MONTHS REPORT):
Uptime: 99.82%
Downtime: 7h 55min
Number of Downtimes: 46
Is it mostly down for 5min to 15min, except for the big downtime at new years (2h 30min).

So far I can live with this, but looking for a more reliable host at the same price range, + do not belong to the same "main company" + No GDy either.

What intervals do you monitor at? "46" downtimes is extremely high....
