Anyone using FB Promoted Posts?

I guess you could call me an "offliner" but I wanted to run something by you folks as this should be right in you guys' wheelhouse.

Is anyone testing the usage of promoted FB posts to drive traffic? I know some of you engage in affiliate marketing of other products, have you all considered creating / sourcing affiliates through the usage of FB promoted posts?

For example, in my pea brain I'm thinking that if you are promoting a weight loss product, perhaps posting some free classified ads around saying;

"Lost weight? Got Proof? Make money sharing your story with your FB Friends."

Again, I don't sell IM products, but the cost to promote a post for an individual is $6.99.

The average FB user has 252 friends. 18 - 24 year olds have an average of 510 friends.

That demographic intrigues me. Young people will do anything legitimate for a fast and easy buck (donate blood, return beer bottles, etc) so that demographic intrigues me, because it could be ripe for a lot of "make money from your dorm room" type of offers - as promoted by friends on FB...

Thoughts?

If you get your posters to pay the $6.99 as an affiliate... could be a boon...
