Are You a Real Marketer? New Year's Thoughts

As we start this new year, it's a great time to reflect on our life and work direction. Are you a better marketer now than you were at the start of the year? Are you making more money now than you were at the start of the year?
If not, why not?

We tend to make a lot of excuses for ourselves. Making excuses doesn't help anything. If you want to breakthrough to success, you have to stop making excuses and start making changes.

Here's case in point: Are you a marketer or a collector? I'm afraid most people on this forum are collectors instead of marketers.

At the most basic level a marketer promotes and sells things. A collector buys and keeps things.

A lot of people here fit that second category. They buy WSOs and other products and safely keep them on their hard drive. They rarely ever finish an entire course or install and use the software, plugins, themes, and other trinkets they purchase. Oh but they have them and that is worth something, right?

Can you relate to that? I know I can. I have a portable file box full of marketing reports and methods. I even went so far as to organize them in categories and catalog them. But what good do they do me? None at all.

I'm not adding to it any more because something clicked for me last year. I decided to quit collecting and start marketing. But I keep that box to remind me of where I've been and to inspire me.

How does it inspire me? Well, I know there are other people out there trying to fill their boxes. There are desperate souls who need help and are willing to pay for it.

It's not that I want them to put my stuff in their boxes. Instead, it reminds me there are marketers, and there are collectors.

I am a marketer not a collector. I want to help people move from being collectors to being marketers.

So, what about you? Are you a marketer or a collector?

Please leave your answers and thoughts below.

I can honestly say that I am a reformed collector because I am now an Action Taker. My ah-ha moment was when I realized that no amount of training or shiny objects would do me any good unless I put aside my fears and took action.

I also keep myself on task by using the Action Enforcer. I just type in what I want to accomplish each day and how long I will spend on each task. This has increased my focus and productivity tremendously.
