Product launches and Opt-ins

Hi guys,

When you do an internal product launch to your own list do you ask for the opt-in or do you simply send the entire series of pre-launch content to your entire list?

Clearly there's no definitive answer to what works best but it would be nice to know what the "best practices" are...

Thanks!

Woo theme just had a Holidays promo to their list. They ask for optin (from their list) for those who are ready to receive daily promo on various products. This way, they get almost zero spam complain. This can be a good option if you plan to send out emails almost everyday for you launch.

Yeah it really depends on how detailed you want to get with the segments of your list. This will just bring up your engagements and improve your open rates if you know you are only speaking to the people who are interested in that offer.

Will be easier to target the ones who opted in with similar stuff later

But if it is directly related to what they originally opted in for, then you might not need that.

That is the answer, I will just add something

If you are using funnel management (like Infusionsoft or Office Autopilot) you could send them to the opt-in page, then, send those that don't sign-up another email later with a unique subject line. In the second email, include a link to the launch sequence without requiring opt-in... that way, you get your cake and eat it too (you'll get the increased response AND everyone you can to the offer)

A little harder with just Aweber, GetResponse, iContact bla bla etc..
