Do you use a 'prepaid' creditcard for using monthly services (aweber, Godaddy, surveySites etc)?

When you use services which you have to pay a monthly fee too,

aweber
getresponse
godaddy
surveymonkey

Even PPC services (adwords, facebook, yahoo PPC)

Many people pay using their 16 digit credit cards,

but does anybody pay using a prepaid credit card?
(one where you top it up with cash...so it works when yuo have funds in it by topping it up ?)

If so, does it work fine, just as an ordinary credit card ? with no problems ?

and does a prepaid credit card appear on your credit file? or the point of them is to manage your spending ?

(even if you are a UK warrior, do you use a prepaid card, in the uk ? )

I have used, and still use both. lol I have never had a problem. Sites don't do credit checks that I now of, anyway. lol That may change in the future, but most sites, such as awber, just want to be paid, so it does not matter, to them one way or the other.

One word of advice, would be get a prepaid card, that you can add money to, that way the numbers don't change.

    I hope this helps.

You mean there are prepaid cards that don't allow you to add money ?

Which prepaid card do you use ?
How to statements come from your prepaid card?

Yes there are, and I bought one once. I now use a WalmartMoneyCard, and I have a direct deposit that goes to it twice monthly. I leave almost half of it in to work my business, the rest i pull out of an ATM and give to my wife to stash. Works great for me.

Does it also act like a bank account (account number etc)

so you can have funds from a product launch, into it ?

I can send money from my PayPal account, buy using the direct deposit account numbers. I can not load my PayPal account directly from it as I have no check writing ability. You can pull out cash on a network of ATM machines, or you can pull out from any ATM machine and pay the fees that go with it. But I use it just like any Visa Debit card.

I don't know much about a prepaid card but you can get a secured credit card that is exactly that, a credit card. An example would be a secured card at Wells Fargo Bank. You deposit $250 and you get a credit card with a limit of $250. As long as you make your payments the card is good up to the $250 limit. The last I heard is that Wells Fargo Bank reports to all three credit bureaus but that is something that you need to ask before starting.

A persons credit rating shouldn't be an issue because it's secured by your deposit. The trick with a secured card , or any credit card, is to maintain a credit/debt ratio of 10% to 30% ( a great way to raise your credit score). Knowing what you will charge on it every month should give you an idea of what amount to have for a credit limit. I haven't checked on this for a few years so I don't remember the names but I do know there are several banks that do this. The names should be easy enough to find by using google.

I understand that this isn't exactly what you are asking but I thought I would add it in so you had a few options to think about. I am not a credit expert and I don't claim to be one.

i like those disposable credit cards a lot, for security. I prefer to only buy w/paypal online; otherwise I use the disposable ccs, you prepay $100 or $200 or whatever you want, then 'register' it online so it has your name/address to match up when entering it. you can get those at major banks or retailers or drugstores here in the us.

i find this provides ok protection when buying from people online that you don't know, or are names that only accept visa/mc so they can't easily sneak in unwanted monthly extra charges beyond your amount you bought the card in. so if I see some big cheap product launch at $197 or whatever, I can go get a disposable cc for the $197 and not worry about gurus/whomever tacking on extra charges (like hidden monthly extra fees or unauthorized upsells), since the card "runs out" of money at whatever price you bought it from. p.s. the gurus don't want you to do this.

of course this wouldn't be ideal for monthly services since it'll run out at the predetermined max price you bought it at (though that is an option, eg buy a year-subscription value of the card, knowing it'll run out in a year, then updating w/new card near expiration)

Yes they do because those giftcards comes with a great advantage for sellers: You cannot do a chargeback. Anyone with a merchant account always run the risk of friendly frauds and this eliminates it.
As long as you're an honest buyer with no intention of scamming by doing a chargeback after goods/services been recieved, then these giftcards are a great way to pay.
