If you want to convert visits to sales/signups, then you need to start building a list. Collect leads and you can do so by having opt-in forms or links to capture pages. Then you need to make sure you're targeting the right traffic. Whatever you're blogging about has to be relevant to the quality of traffic you're driving. Also, you need to come up with a way on how to break state and capture people's attentions so that they will stay longer on your site instead of them leaving right away. What I suggest is you study successful blogs/bloggers and implement what you learn on your blog.

Impossible to answer without seeing the site. Why not put up a link?

Your questions are muddled and confused.

Bounce rate, time on site and email opt ins are very different things.

People bounce because when they land on the page they can't find exactly what they are looking for (because of an unclear layout or content hidden away for example) or because you aren't delivering content that engages them (i.e. it's poor or not relevant).

Make sure your content is easy to find, your site layout is clean and clutter free and the content delivers exactly what your audience want. Find out what problems they have and solve them in the form of posts if you run a blog.

Make sure if they are coming to specific landing pages via google the keywords they come from are relevant and congruent with your landing page content.

Onto getting people to opt in...

People opt in to an email list because you offer them something they want or because the content they found on the site was so good they want more of it (or both).

If you're not able to provide that to them they won't enter their email. You also have to make it obvious where they sign up and how they do it. Don't hide your opt ins away and have many of them in different places.

Have a benefit driven headline that tells them why signing up will be the best thing they ever did.

You should always and continually be split testing. You don't put another site up you split test on the same domain.

Depends what you want to split test.

If it's email opt in forms you can run split tests with Aweber and I imagine most of the major AR companies. Design them within Aweber then choose to run a split test and take the code they give you and past into your site.

If you want to know where people are looking and clicking them CrazyEgg heat map will help you with that.

You can split test different links / affiliate offers by using a link rotator.

There is software that allows you to track and test almost everything but if you don't want to spend money the above works.
