How do I sell my video tutorial?

Hi,

I've created a video tutorial. I have two options of giving it away after people make a payment.

1. Give it as a downloadable archived file. (400 MB file)
2. Have some sort of a locked page where i can upload the videos, accessible only to people who pay.

Can anyone guide me how I can achieve either of these? And which would be better? Free options would be preferable as of now, but I'm open to buying a software too.

Thank you.

    Hi Kush,

I have tutorial videos on the site in my link below.

I have used s2member, which is a membership site plugin for Wordpress. That way I can control who has access to the videos.

I'm also hosting the videos on my hosting account and using JW Player 6 Plugin for Wordpress in order to allow members to play/stream the videos.

Both plugins are free so, you might want to consider them.

The benefit of having access to your videos via a membership site is that you can easily add more videos or alter those you've made and your members don't have to go and download another archive file (which will be huge for videos). All they have have to do is login to your site and they will get access to the videos.

You can easily send out an email to all your subscribers when/if you add/alter your videos - again another free Wordpress plugin.

    Robert

I would suggest the KVS player instead: WordPress › KVS Player « WordPress Plugins

      1) It works in both Flash and HTML5 modes (all mobile devices are supported)
      2) It's freeware for anything. Even for commercial projects!
      3) It has no annoying logos or something like that.

Option 2 is the one I've used in the past. As Robert says above, WordPress and s2member is a good option, as is WordPress and Woocommerce. You might also want to checkout JV Zoo.

I think that option 2 is better.
Also you can allow access with the same code with 3 IPs only. So the person who buys access can use that material only from 3 IPs and even if she or he decides to share code (for access) that won't work from other locations.

I don't know if you are specifically looking for a software recommendation or a platform to sell your stuff on,

if it's software, other guys have already told you..

If it's a platform, you can get started with clickbank

Just have a downloadable file. Easiest and cheapest option.

Perhaps you can put it on udemy and let them push viewers. Frankly, there are a lot of people on udemy with money. Another option is to try to sell it yourself - good luck with that one.

Problem with self hosting is that bandwidth is expensive. Also, most people will never find you. Advertising will only add to your increasing expenses. Hey, even you tube is over saturate with good videos now and those are free, so there we are.

you can use the option 2. The file will be visible only the people who paid for the video. Firstly you can offer the free option for a short period of time. Thanks for your advance.

Here's the ways I do it...

I always host products on Amazon S3, its free for the first year and very affordable after. Most marketers use it and it's Amazon, so you know you're safe.

Then you have 2 options for securing the products, actually there's probably lots more but my chosen ones, after much research are:

    1. EDD (Easy digital downloads) - WordPress plugin by Pippin, I love it and their support has been really helpful.
    2. DAP Digital Access Pass - Works with JVZOO, Clickbank and other platforms so really cool and they update it regularly. Solid protection for digital products.

You can sell through two methods:

1 FREE METHODS: Video marketing (Upload an attractive video to YouTube and rank it to first page), Forum marketing (Insert signature, answer 20 daily), Share to relevant social media groups like facebook groups, google plus communities linkedin groups etc

    2. Paid methods: Create ppc campaign ( i prefer bing ads, facebook ppc), email marketing

    Thanks

I've done both in the past and either works well.
You could also sell via Udemy, although their commission rates are extremely poor.
Another option is to sell on disc media via Kunaki who will create the CD/DVD and despatch to most countries for around $1.

Start promoting on udemy, but it would offer very low price offers though..

I would suggest using udemy as they are pretty good as a place to gain exposure. Also, you will get feed back in the form of ratings or reviews. Please create first a small free course. Then add your main course. Best that you move now. Udemy might get bought up. Well, that would probably mean more restriction by the new company. Also, they will probably promise you more money. However, the reality is that they might change the compensation model in their favor - not yours.
