Create multiple niche sites or 1 site

Hi all,

I've seen this question asked before but my situation is slightly different considering all my "niche" sites are actually based around one thing.

I had the idea to create some auction sites based on a script similar to ebay in order to sell virtual items from some popular online games (I won't say which ones)

My question is, should I have a separate auction site for every single game or just create a whole marketplace for those online games?

thanks

I have done some extra research and I have found that there is competition for having just 1 marketplace but they are all forum based marketplaces instead of ebay type ones which should be more secure

It really depends. For me, I'm concentrating on one site now.

My answer.. 1 page no question. 2,3 like items and your on your way. 8 or more items and you are in the realm of authority site. Section out your blog for each topic, write 2-3 times a week on each topic. so if you have 4 items we are looking at 8 to 12 blog posts per week. Link each post back to the section on your site for that item.

When you can develop a site that is a niche, and then using the same site to narrow down from macro to sub to micro you are looking at the possibility of great page ranking, better SEO results, and hopefully cross purchasing from your viewers.

Building each seperate is like putting one egg in one basket, another in another basket and so on. I had a customer recently that had 2 separate sites in 2 separate niches they wanted me to work on. I suggested using a 3rd site to being the 2 together. The 2 niches played well together. The new blended site is doing so well the customer is now focusing on that site as the primary, and the older 2 as basically feeders.

Look as an example CNN... many topics are covered under one roof. There is Sports, international, current, lifestyles, money etc. An Authority site. The niche is News, but the sub and micro niches vary greatly.

      Hope that Helps!

I would suggest using the one site and focus solely on driving traffic to that site. Increase the following, keep the content up to date and relevant, and have search engines "like" the site more. Many sites with less content will take a longer time to gain traction than if you are updating and posting to one site daily and sending everyone there!

It really depends on the niche imo

I would stick to one "mega" site. I'm going to guess your niche falls under the MMORPG games and generally these players are aware of (and even play) all of the similar titles.

I think you are talking about selling something like poker chips, coins etc. For that kind of a site, I would suggest you to go for 1 site.

One thing is for sure, one site means you can focus on just one thing, and you can get results quicker. This means that you don't have to split yourself between different sites . . .

Agree with LISA. Make one and concentrate on ranking and making it an authority website.
