Email Marketing: Is it risky to Remail Unopens?

Hi, I have heard that many email clients block images by default, which appear as a false negative to us (they viewed the email but appeared not to). Because of this issue is it risky to regularly remail unopens?

Thanks

It's probably ok once in a while but I wouldn't get into the habit of repeatedly doing it if you value your spam score.

Also a good idea to prune your list if there's a lot of junk emails addresses clogging it up. No use paying for a list of x thousand people if a large percentage of them ignore every email.

Be aware, there is no system that works 100% precisely. Used MailChimp before, it sucks. Shows only 1-3 open rate.

Ever considered that you really do just have a 1-3% open rate?

Mailchimp is a reputable AR and whilst figures may be off a bit because of certain emails not registering as opens I doubt they are too far off tbh.

I re-mail un-opens on broadcast after 24hrs with a different subject line and then again 24hrs later. But I rarely send broadcasts so it's not something I do often.

Open rates area as many other replies have mentioned is not a great way to measure your response rate and whether to remove people from your lists.

When considering doing a cull, send out an email that makes it clear they need to click on the link to remain on your list, give them a no brainer offer via the link that potential customers would grab with both hands.

Thus you can get rid of the tyre kickers and freebie seekers in one fell swoop and know for sure that only the people who are actually engaged with your messages remain on your lists

I agree with crispyo, I prefer to cull down the junk addresses that simply don't open any of my emails

I email my unopens all the time...

However, I will often put a P.S. that tells them to enable images to avoid receiving duplicate emails.

    Good luck.

Guys, I don't understand, what kind of images are you talking about. You usually send the newsletter/broadcast with an image inside or what?

      Thanks in advance.

Usually there is a 1x1 pixel image entered in by the autoresponder. This allows them to remotely track how many unique opens each email received. However, many email clients block images from loading, creating a tracking problem.

I do send to unopens one time almost always.

Of course using a completely different subject.

If you sell solos and track clicks, you can see
that those who open the second email ~90% are unique clicks.

So, only around 10% appears to be non unique, which are probably
those who did opened the email the first time, but AR didn't count them.

I mail to unopens and unopens of the unopens.

Doing this nearly doubles the amount of clicks I can generate from a broadcast.

Wow. Any noticeable effect on your unsubscribe rate?

My mail client asks me if I want to display the images. If it is from a source I trust then I usually select yes. If it is from a source I do not care about or do not know at all its an easy warning to just delete the message.
