Clickbank Vendors / Ebook Makers

I'm seeing ridiculously crap programs selling in tens of thousands over at clickbank. (although since sales pages lie and over hype and every review site is by an affiliate doing the same, I can see why crap sells)

My quesiton is, is there still money to be made in making an ebook and selling it via clickbank?

My specialty is Nutrition and Fitness and I figure if I write about a page a day for 3-6 months I can make a good ebook.

That abs book sold over 1million copies. Assuming my math is correct. A 40$ book hes probably getting about 10$ after affiliates sell it for him.

10$ x 1 million = $10 million dollars he made? Seems unreal for a fcking ebook.

What are peoples thoughts on this?

    Hi AffiliatingAlan

I've not read the abs book, so I can't comment...but it's so more than an eBook

it's a super effective salespage/website that draws people in, tells a story, gets them hooked, overcomes buying objections and promises to fulfil the needs of the reader...who is probably looking for what's on offer

I suspect the content in the eBook is solid too, due to its longevity

I've never sold an eBook alone, there's so much more you can offer, video coaching, audio programs, checklists (people love checklists), forum's, FB groups, webinars etc etc

before you delve into 3-6 months of product creation, I would suggest some detailed research to make sure people want your offering...and will pay money for it.

I've seen many an IM'er not do this and waste themselves a ton of time, effort and money

    good luck with it
    cheers
    Steve

There are over 10,000 active vendor accounts in ClickBank.

How many of those accounts do you really think have sold 1,000,000 items?

      Take away points:
      - His performance is no typical
      - You ought to be studying *why* his performance is not typical, if you want to achieve similar results.

If I sold 1000 ebooks and made 10k I would be happy.

I have made hundreds of ebooks for myself and other Warriors - some of these people are top moneymakers. Yes clickbank is a good way to make money if you have a great salespage (hopefully truthful) and delivers some dynamite content that really helps people.

The biggest problem is when crap products are foisted on people. Stick to real life experiences / excellent content that really helps people.

I also suppose crap products would have a high return rate.

Ill admit im pretty bad at sales...but I know I can make an informative product. It wouldnt be a short ebook. Id want to put effort and make it more or less a complete guide.

Lets pretend right now I had a 150 page ebook on the diet and nutrition niche. What would determine if this sells or not? How well of a squeeze page and how many fake testimonial pictures I can buy?

If you buy only 1 fake testimonial picture you may find yourself in very hot water faster than you think.

Using fake testimonials is against the law and you will get caught eventually and you will pay for that with way more than what you think.
                Lol risk to reward

You do really probably 95% of all clickbank products are fake testimonials right

maybe its because ive been looking in stupid niches lately like ED and placebo crap

    A few points:

    1. Mike Geary isn't JUST selling the Truth About Abs ebook, every single customer who buys goes through his upsell funnel of 3 products, and many buy those as well.

    2. His email list is FAR more valuable than his front-end customers, which is why he gives 90% commissions to super affiliates. The VAST majority of his money is made on the back-end, through email marketing.

    3. If you're planning on taking 6 months to get started, spend those 6 months learning copywriting or how to hire a great copywriter.

    4. Mike's results are NOT typical. For every Truth About Abs. there are 1,000 failed products on CB who sell 2 or 3 copies, then disappear into obscurity.

Sure there is still room for more information in this area - pick an area of passionate interest to you, do you only own one book or read one article on it? No - it becomes an obsession...that's why information has sold for decades and will continue to sell.

Many of the top selling ebooks on CB are not crap products - they may not be the best technical products in the world, but they obviously have reached a certain level of usefulness which often is what perceived value is all about

Key is to identify a "crack" in the current systems and capitalize on that THEN deliver a kick-butt product that gets word of mouth and really takes off virally.

For instance, just watched Piers Morgan tonight where he had more than a dozen weight loss and fitness guys - many of whom just came out with their own product or system, each of them had a new hook.

One admitted there were hundreds of different ways to lose weight - but HIS system was one of the few that works long-term (that's a different hook than most weight loss systems that focus on losing X pounds in 30-days)

Yes, copywriting is a critical part too...you can either spend time studying and practicing the craft (which I would advise as any marketer needs to know and at least be proficient at copywriting even if they are going to hire it out) or spend 10K or more to get someone to write a killer letter or produce a killer video sales page for you.

      This was a good post.

I have to ask what is copywriting? And also how do you identify a "crack" in the market? Unless a "crack" is just an area where something new can be shoved in.

There really is lot of money in this
I have seen this, with so much crap you have more chance if you can give worthy product
Just make sure you have course or ebook that is worth it
Then go ahead launch and do advertisement
There is still big space for legit products
And don't forget there are around 200k+ new people joining internet everyday

I have used Clickbank for a number of years now, and I have earned a few thousand dollars selling other people's items. I have seen the old and outdated version of the site get a complete facelift, and I have to wonder why the products haven't followed suit? The website looks incredible now, and I love the overall professional look. I have to say that the products are horrible though. I would think that they also increase the quality of their products, but maybe in the future here. I think it would make a huge difference to the overall quality and value of the site.

This is my point.....you made a few thousand dollars...you had to make an affiliate site, add pages of content to hopefully rank and convince people to buy or atleast read the sellers squeeze page.

The seller wrote the product and squeeze page one time and sent it to the minions to sell it for him.

Yes, Mike has done quite well for himself. I bought that ebook a long time ago and have been on his mailing list every since. He does provide value though.
