Where do I start? I want to begin by passively making $1-5 day

I really want to learn the ins and outs of online commerce. I have a background in technology and I like to write. I'm also patient, I'm not in a rush. I can take my time to build up a business. My issue is just not knowing how to get started, my 2nd issue is I want to spend next to nothing. I don't mind paying for a domain and hosting, but that's about all.

I've read a few articles on this site and there's a lot of research I need to do. I hear terms like backlinks, clickbanks and seo often. And while I have a general idea of some of these terms just due to being in IT, I can't say I have any in-depth understanding of them.

So someone point me in the right direction. Where should I start?

  • If your goal is to make $1-$5 a day, you can do that without trying internet marketing.

    Try these sites:

Slicethepie (you can make $5 a day if you work hard enough)
Fiverr: Graphics, marketing, fun, and more online services for $5
    www.seoclerks.com
    www.cashle.com
    www.peopleperhour.com

I highly recommend Slicethepie and Fiverr.

Slicethepie is a website that pays you to review songs. You are going to review songs of unknown artists and get paid $0.03-$0.25 (approximately) per review. If you write 50-100 reviews, you can easily make $5-$10 a day. I have made $200+ on this site, so I consider it as a legit site.

Fiverr is a very good marketplace. You can easily make some good cash by selling products and services. A lot of Warrior members are actually making good money on Fiverr.

I should have mentioned I'd like to earn that money passively. Once I setup my product, blog, site, etc.. Then it would passively generate $1-5 a day, with maybe the need to add content or some other related activity just a few times a week or month.

I probably shouldn't be giving ideas away. But another idea I think that could potentially make money is approaching local food vendors (pizza joints, bbq spots, etc.) and offering them the chance to put their merchandise online. Customers can then place orders over the net and pick up their food.

This can be monetized by selling the food vendors the equipment needed and charging a nominal fee for maintenance. or

Give the vendors the equipment for free or at cost and receive a percentage of the sales generated by the online system.

Should be a fairly easy sale when the vendor realizes that they will have increased exposure.

Anyone want to go in with me on this idea. The cool thing is it can be used almost anywhere.

That's just one of dozens of ideas I have. I just lack in the execution department.

The forum is all about ideas - people may not share their business secrets, but they do share a lot of their ideas. Having an idea and executing an idea are very different things. Most people will never execute an idea after reading about it here. Even if they do, they won't do it the same way that you would.

So it's totally safe to share them.

Unless you have an idea where there's a big first mover advantage (like the Snapchat app), your ideas aren't gonna be taken away from you.

Also, what you've described is doable. It's not unique or new, but it's a good idea. Hopefully you will find someone who can work with you on it (most likely someone you know personally and who can help you start it locally first).

That is where niche, keyword and monetization research come in.

You don't just pick something off the top of your head that you think will make money. You pick a few interests you think might have potential and then do research to see if it is viable.

          For example:

Here's one idea I'll throw out there. HVAC techs work on a lot of furnaces and A/C units and often times they need a quick reference guide to look up parts and other technical information related to the units that they service. A site with that information readily available would eventually begin to get a lot of traffic. How would you make that site profitable? Selling ad space?
This is huge. Have you seen the Adsense payout and search volume for HVAC?

          hvac contractors 1,300 $19.89
          hvac technician 1,900 $15.81

Multiple CPA offers pay over $20 a lead

Google: "hvac affiliate programs" and you will find many HVAC suppliers and B2B companies with free to sign up affiliate programs.

I didn't search anything more complicated than "HVAC" to find that in one minute while I was typing this reply....

          Just do some research.

          You mean like this?

Centretown - Take out and Delivery

How many of those dozen ideas have undergone any research?

Much easier to emulate and improve an existing business than try to brainstorm features and services from scratch,

Not trying to give you a hard time but everything you need to know is out there without having to speculate.

Well that idea you can share, in fact somebody already executed it for you 10 years ago, it's called Just-eat.com so I wouldn't be too worried

You shouldn't be too worred with HOW to monetize, if you can build a great website that is valuable to people it should come by itself.. simple google searches would help you
          music = iTunes, Amazon
books, tech = Amazon, NewEgg, TigerDirect, Geekthings, Firebox
photo = by quick google search I found photoshelter and digital-photography-school

          TLR
Stop worrying and build a website that function as a resource for people in your area.. you were an IT guy so you probably have lots of useful info for the avg user

A resource you mention seems like a good place to start. If I were you I would find a community of HVAC professionals and start learn what is difficult for them to do online. Ask them what they need and work to solve the most frequent problems through technology.

One idea might be to have the techs opt-in (leave their email) in order to access the online database of information. Then you will be building a focused list that you can market to. While this does require some upfront work (setting up the autoresponder msgs and finding products or offers to promote), once you have it set up it could become very passive. Just a thought. Good Luck!

If you know IT really well and you like to write, you'd be a hot commodity in the online tech writing world, I bet. People/Companies looking for web content who outsource the writing aren't going to use Fiverr or the other bottom-of-the-barrel $5/article writers. Many of them will probably pay upwards of $50 or more for a quality 1000-word tech article.

In your shoes, I'd get on Google and start looking for "tech writer wanted" sites and the like. Just 2 or 3 good articles a week will easily put $100 or more in your pocket every week.

You say you like to write. Well put up a blog and place affiliate offers on it, place google adsense on it, pick a niche, write about that niche, then learn about getting traffic to your blog, then get traffic to your blog. Do it with enough love and passion and in no time you will be making way more then the money you are suggesting.

I would highly recommend looking into Amazon FBA (not an affiliate link). If you start an Amazon selling account, Amazon is already promoting their products (you'll just need to find the best products to sell). If you sign up with FBA, they will handle the payment processing, order fulfillment, shipping, customer service and returns. It is truly as automated as you can get in ecommerce. I use this service and wake up every day to a full inbox of emails telling me that my items shipped and there is money in my account! If you want an automated ecommerce solution, this is what you want to look at. You will just be responsible for finding products (or connecting with suppliers that will send the items to Amazon FOR you- I don't see or touch 95% of my products). Hope this helps! Good luck with your endeavors!

If you like to write there are places that will pay you to write for them, that would be a good way to start, I'm sure you could make $5.00 a day. You can just do a search in google for places that pay to write. Later you could just set up a site to get your own clients.

I would suggest writing as a service too. I know you said you want something passive but I think if you hire yourself out as a writer to start off with, you will make a lot more than $5 a day, if you write well and are good to your customers.
Once you have a steady income coming in, you can then finance your online education and set up passive income streams.

if you work hard then you can make good amount of money..

meanwhile you start learning how to build a blog but you have to decide on what topic you are going to write about, it is patience job but it is very long term good business...

along that as well, start providing services to other people in what you are good at, if you are good in technology then you can offer repairing or solution services..

if you are doing full time job and want to earn part time from internet then blogging about products or technology will be best place to start cause you can learn lots of things from blogging..

You will get a ton of ideas here - sort of like a cross reference of what methods are available for making money online.

You could make a good start by just spending some time running through old threads here.

You also mention some ideas you have. They are fine ideas, but some or all have already been done. Doesn't mean you can't do them better.

I personally know of at least one person who pays to have access to exactly the kind of hvac information you mention. (Don't know the name of the site offhand.)

Also, if you do a search for "internet marketing terms" or some such I am sure you explanations for all the terms you are curious about.
