Why did Google drop/stop ranking my site?

Please help! Google is not giving my site traffic anymore. The site dropped from rank 1 to rank 179 on my dominant keyword. I am not sure as to the reason of this sudden drop.

Can anyone give clarity as to why I would suddenly drop off the Google radar in a days time after being there for months?
Thanks for you help in advance!

    Vidwealth,
You are still indexed. So you have a chance at getting back to page one. I recommend you put your effort into linkbuilding for that site.

Were you doing anything aggressive? If they notice too many links coming to your site in a short amount of time that could happen. But, if you haven't been deindexed at all then you are probably still in ok shape.

Thanks for the replies! I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary or too aggressive. I use articles, blog, twitter, facebook and youtube to market the site.

  • There is nothing as constant as change. Everyday Google is tweaking something then it goes live and then you move. You need a plan and you need to be consistent. It's also very important that your plan not rely on search in order to be profitable.

that is a hard hit but if you depend on google for traffic then that can happen.

This is the risk you take when you are dependent on search engine traffic. I have many sites that seem to drop off the map randomly, but in the end if you keep building up links you will get back to the front.

A small change in Google's algorithms could cause huge changes (for you) such as what happened in your case.
