Hey

I was just watching BBC's Click programme; it's a half hour slot dedicated to the internet/computers etc. On it, they have a feature where they highlight websites. Tonight, they featured Kiva.org.

As soon as I saw that, I thought I'd seen that website mentioned before. In fact, I recall it was always in admin's (Allen Says') signature. So, I logged on, and yep, there it was.

I'd always assumed it was Allen's own site; even if it isn't, I thought you'd like the heads-up, especially as the website was featured very favourably.

The only BBC program I can get is Benny Hill reruns. :P

Kiva is amazing. If I recall, you basically lend money to 3rd world companies (aka shop owners) and get paid interest upon repayment. For example, a grocery store owner may need a $50 loan. After a set amount of days they are supposed to repay the loan at $55. Naturally there is some risk, but very satisfying from a humanitarian perspective.
