Can you make money just by building sites?

I made my first site and it was fun, I think I will enjoy making them.
Is it realistic to expect to just make a site, send traffic to it and list it on clickbank, and then let it just set it and forget it and then go make another site?

Or am I going to really have to work every single site by collecting the opt in list and emailing them offers every day?

id rather just create a product, offer it for sale with a good page, then go off and make another one.
I dont want to have to farm a list because if I have, say, 20 sites going theres no way Imgoing to be able to organize emails for members on 20 different sites.

If you don't promote it, nobody will ever get to it. We would all like to do that but that is why there is so much money to be made with internet marketing, most people aren't willing to do the leg work to make a product or website become successful.

A list is more valuable than the site itself. Collect leads using GetResponse or Aweber and set aside one day to create 10 autoresponders that go out every 2 days. This repeated selling will increase sales and save your butt in the future if you need quick cash.

    Do it!

It really depends on you and your abilities, yes you can make money and sometimes a lot of money.

Lists work for some people, developing sites work for others, JV's even better for some.

Just have to figure out your strengths, try a few things and see how it goes.

There is no one guaranteed way to make money online.

If I understand you correctly, you would like to create sites/products and rely on ClickBank's affiliates to send traffic your way.

If that is the case then I must say that you're taking a chance by doing it. First, you must hope that the product will look appealing to the ClickBank user base. Then you trust them to do a good job at marketing your product and lastly, what happens to your business if ClickBank gets shut down or something happens to the company?
See, in my opinion, one must have a certain degree of control over his own traffic creation. ClickBank can be a good source of traffic but the notion that someone else controls the flow of traffic to my site scares me.

Lastly, by maintaining a list and marketing your products to it, you can quickly recoup the costs involved in the development of the product and possibly fund the next one.

My first post in this forum and just my 2 cents. I may be completely wrong so don't kill me if I am...

I think your approach is wrong, at least for now.

First do you have all unique content on the sites? Cause if you do I would start selling them. At first just sell them as new sites. It will be a lot less but you can make more sites.

Then start to drive traffic to a bunch of them and let them build for a year or so. Then is they generate rev you can sell them for a lot more.

I just sold a site I had for about 6 years for 19 months earnings.

Starting up a site definitely takes a lot of work. You need to decide how you will spread your time over your sites, because unfortunately it is more than just a set it and forget it.

Is it just me, or does building, maintaining and continuous promotion and evolution of a website seem fun?

I enjoy creating the site, then once I find one that works, or hits a niche market, keep on building on it.

Once you find something that works, that's the one that will make you money.

    80/20 rule.
