Does creating a sitemap but not submitting it do anything? I know submitting a sitemap to google gets you indexed faster. But is creating a sitemap and then not submitting it any different than not creating one at all?

    I believe that Google will index it in time automatically. If you want to be sure, just make a link to your sitemap from your footer.

    The only difference I think there is is that when you submit it in Webmaster Tools Google will index it faster.
