Need some PayPal help guys!

Ok, so PayPal has been kicking my a$$ for the past few days... Here is the deal.

I have a Buy Now button.

User clicks the button, goes to the PayPal page where it asks for payment info or login.

User inputs info or logs in and completes the purchase.

User arrives at confirm purchase page, and thus confirms the purchase.

Now... Here is the tricky part...

I have the button set up to redirect them to a page on my website that contains a form.

This USED to automatically take the user to my website, specifically to the page on the website with the form (aka the page that is linked to).

This isn't happening anymore! Now, they get a page that makes them click a "Return" button, but does NOT auto redirect them.

Even worse, when they click the "Return" button, it takes them to the home page of the website I am trying to get them on, and not the page I specify (eg: www.site.com instead of www.site.com/form)

I've gone through my account settings/options and I can't find ANY links to the home page of that particular site!

This is KILLING me, and I can't figure it out for the life of me! lol

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I have checked the simple stuff, tried a new button, gone through the checkout process myself to see what is going on, and I just can't figure it out!

I would LOVE a little input.

Thanks guys

    I checked that out... But...

It only gives the option for 1 url. So wouldn't all of my buttons return to the same page? That won't work as I have multiple buttons for different stuff :\

When you create a button, it gives the option for a redirect URL upon successful payment, and that's what I've always used, but for some reason it isn't work anymore.

I just can't figure this out!

As for PP tech support, I tried that, and they put me on hold for nearly 45 minutes before I just hung up.

I spoke with someone, they said they were going to check something really quick, and they never came back.

    K2SMedia,

I dont know how up on code/paypal button configuration you are but this link may help?

(The issues they are discussing are the same issue - i.e. you can set a return url in the button code itself)

Auto return doesn't return - Payment Data Transfer (PDT) - PayPal Developer Community

Let me know how you get on because I may have a member of my team who can help you.

    Hey Josh,
Thanks a lot, I appreciate the link!

    Sadly, it didn't help.

The method they are proposing, at least from what I read and played with after reading, requires me to un-encrypt the coded button, as well as choose to not have the button hosted at PayPal. Both of these are big issues with security, because people can simply look at the source code of the button to find the product page, and simply skip the whole "pay" part. haha

Man, this is driving me nuts!

I would truly appreciate any other input from you, one of your team members, or anyone else that might have an idea as to what the issue could be. I want to get this taken care of because it is offsetting my work and sales and I just can't sleep until I figure it out! lol

    Thanks again!

    Hey Josh,

As for Skype, I'm going to add you to my list

But, I figured out the issue!

So, under "Website Payment" settings, there is the option to auto-redirect. Now, to enable it, you MUST enter a URL to auto-redirect to.

I didn't want to put it there because, well, then everyone would go to the same page.

So I put in a different URL, and then put the correct URL's that I wanted the user to land on within the button settings itself, and now it works!

    *Sigh of relief*

Thanks for the help though! That link you sent me is what gave me the idea of trying to enter a main URL and then a separate one for each button.
