I was shopping for a book on abebooks recently, and I noticed that a seller who was selling print on demand books was really close to my house, like less than 1 mile. Curious, I found out it was an apartment building.

At this point I wondered what their business model looks like. Are they listing the books and having a printing company print and ship?

I'd be interested in doing something like that - brokering POD books.

Perhaps someone can steer me in the right direction.

That sounds really interesting! Do you have any idea what POD company he is using? Do you think it would work with Amazon's Createspace? I wonder what the criteria are for books to be allowed... I think this idea deserves further investigation!

What's the title of the book?
It was just a random philosophy book I was looking for. I took a look at the seller's page on abebooks and I saw that their entire inventory of several tens of thousands of books were print on demand. You can tell because there is a special icon that appears under the listing when a book is listed as POD. I'd love to know how someone can operate this type of business from their apartment.
