Outsourcer plagiarised articles

I have had a full time Filipino working for me for the last couple of months. Recently, I asked her to write some articles for me. I put one of them through a plagiarism checker and found she has lifted some phrases from articles. I was very disappointed.

How would you deal with this? What would you do?

Regards,

Dave

Have her rewrite them and re-explain the rules to her.

Or fire her. Not a lot of other choices.

If you're going to go with option #1, be sure to tell her that if she does it again, she's fired. Although, are you really willing to keep working with someone that you can't trust?? If she's plagiarizing, what else is she up to? That's what would worry me!

"lifted some phrases" really isn't very specific information
on which to judge whether or not this is a serious violation.

Ok guys, partly my fault. I noticed that she was using some curation, so some of the sentences were quotes. There was a little bit of copying of some phrases, but not enough to warrant a serious offense.

I once had a person named "Smith" working for me. Couldn't trust him so I had to let him go.

At least you figured out what was happening before taking drastic action! Plagiarism is unfortunately one of those things you have to look out for when outsourcing because it definitely happens, especially when you are hiring someone for little amounts of money.
