I keep reading posts about traffic + conversions = money or value + conversions = money whatever the case maybe. These are all great formula's to making sales. But the true formula for money what I believe is

Product + demanding market= money

Service + demanding market = money

    You still need to position yourself properly in the market to meet the demands of the product(s) sought.

      Exactly.

      Just having a product in a demanding market isn't going to help if you don't have a way to get that product to see the light of day, and subsequently, purchased.

      A brilliant explanation that the OP'S post is lacking substance.

    obviously if you provide value you'll have conversions. and obviously you must have traffic or else you'll get 0 conversions. also, value and a demanding market are both one and the same. for example, demand is what gives a product value, and value is what creates a demanding market. they can't exist without each other.

    the formula is to provide value by capturing the needs of a market demand, and get as much traffic as possible. simple.

    OP, money is also about beating your competition and the quality of your product.

    you could have the best product in the world, but if nobody knows about it, you're basically going to get nowhere. products are over-saturating HIGH DEMAND niches nowadays, and if you don't know how to make your voice heard over thousands of others, there is no point in having a product or service in a high demand market. Though what you're saying is true to a point, the way you market will determine success. Marketing reigns supreme.

    But his stated formula is the correct one for the start of anything.

    Too many just begin something they "think" should work, drive lots of traffic to it, tweak the design as they go, and then after 2 or 3 years of that wonder why nobody is buying.

    How about do it the other way around: focus on the market first then produce a product? The problem with trying to create demand for stuff you think the market will like is that you're forcing yourself to work ten times harder. It's much easier to simply listen to your market and give it what it wants.

    No! No! No! the formula is:

    LG x P(x) x SEO x C(x) x CS x EM x ME x V V x TM x VS x B(x) = $ + more responsibility + discovery of long lost relatives + gold digger romantic prospects aplenty + possibly getting fat.
    --------------------------

    LG = Lead Generation
    P(x) = Partners (to the power of the quality of the partner)
    SEO = Search Engine Optimization
    C(x) = Content (to the power of the quality and quantity of your content)
    CS = Content Syndication
    EM = Email Marketing
    ME = Marketing Exposure
    V V = Visitor Value
    TM = Traffic Monetization
    VS = Viral Systems
    B(x) = Brand (to the power of the quality of your brand)

    got this "formula" from John Reese long time ago, I added the outcome.

    Yes, you need a demanding product and a demanding market but you must know how to properly convert these markets into potential buyers and that's when proper conversion comes in.

    Alright, you've got a product. You've got a demanding market. But you're not making any money...why?

    OH! It's because you have ZERO traffic - nobody's viewing your product service!

    Ok....you take care of that, and pull a few thousand visitors in but...they don't buy. Zero conversions.

    OH! It's because you haven't done CRO yet (conversion rate optimization)....

    And on it goes.

    If you're gonna stand there telling me that all I need to make money online is a high demand product/service, I'm gonna call B.S.

    I believe it is also not just about the product, but it also about the person selling the product. You can have a great product but have a bad attitude as a marketer, and no one will want to buy the product. Leadership goes a long way.
