| Do you know what the #1 killer of online productivity is? Believe it or not, the answer is email. If you're like most internet marketers, the first thing you do when jumping online is checking your email. You'll think " I'll just check my email for a minute and then I'll do some work ". But you spend the next hour or more replying to emails, reading newsletters and checking out the latest guru's offer. Here's how to avoid this HUGE time waster and get more done, starting today. The next time you jump online don't check your email until you've completed one or two of the most important tasks on your to do list. No email is SO urgent that it can't wait an hour or two, while you get some real work done. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. If you want more tips for getting more things done in your online business, visit my website below (signature) and answer the four easy questions. Your question may be answered by a top internet marketer when I interview them about productivity soon. Everyone who participates gets a FREE audio on productivity. |

Good Advice! I read the same in Tim Ferriss' "4 Hour Workweek." The guy has it down to a science and only checks his email once per week. That's why I don't get Blackberry users with email connected to them 24/7. I see how it sucks so much precious time away from their lives! |

Want to know what another BIG time waster is? When people spend HOURS reading posts on the WARRIOR FORUM and never apply any of the information they learn. I'm going to be interviewing several top internet marketers about how they get so much done online, and then giving away one of the interviews to everyone who answers the four easy questions ... see my signature for details. |

I agree! I don't know how many times I've planned on getting a bunch of work done on my business first thing in the morning, only to see that quality time wasted because I decide to "just check my email for a few minutes first." Next thing I know, a couple hours have gone by with nothing valuable done. It's a hard habit to break, but I'm doing it by refusing to check my email until I've gotten some serious work done. In fact, I'm usually leaving it for late evenings, or other "down times" when I'm too tired or distracted to do real work anyway. I've also been getting a lot more ruthless about unsubscribing from lists that aren't directly helping me earn money in some way, to cut down on how much email I'm getting. Plus, I've set up rules in my in-box to organize the rest automatically, so I can pay attention to the more important stuff, and file the rest away for "later" when or if I really need to look at it. (Most of it will wait until I've earned my first million or so! )Bill Grosh |

Thankfully, I've been watching Eben Pagan's videos so yes, I fully agree with what you're saying here. Checking emails and reading everything is not the best thing to do at the start of the day - in fact, it can get quite disheartening. My emails - I usually Select All > Mark As Read for the ones who have been sending on a regular basis. Have been doing a lot of unsubscribing for those with little or no good content too. Asher |

I agree! I've just started changing my daily schedule so that I don't even open email until after completing my more important things earlier in the day! Good topic, good advice!

I pride myself on being efficient and productive. I do check my email five times a day but only spend a couple minutes each time doing so... mainly deleting junk I don't need. I only spend an hour a day on this forum and have stopped visiting other forums that don't interest me anymore. I always focus on the important stuff and am able to complete my goals by avoiding things like small talk and people who won't get straight to the point. You should see how I plan vacantions. Maybe I should start a second business doing just that for others. |

My biggest time killer is checking Clickbank stats, and also checking adsense, amazon, ebay, tradedoubler. And then a look at warriorforum to see if I have got any PM from one of my outsourcing projects. And then email. Now an hour has gone. I need a cigarette. Wounder if it is something on the TV while I smoke. Then two hours has gone. Maybe I have made a sale on clickbank. got to check, it has been a few hours since I checked last time. And so the circle continues... |

Not to forget checking how my different articles/posts/websites are ranking in Google... I also waste a lot of time doing keyword research to find obscure niches that I never make something out of anyway. Sorry for the double reply. I think I needed to put this on the forum to get it out. Time to ditch those things now and start making some progress. |

You guys are spot on. So good to know other people have these problems. I keep up to date with news with RSS feeds on my iphone - and I just use it when I'm on a train/underground/waiting for a bus - so much better than looking at a newspaper. |
