What is something to promote on a squeeze page for someone new to email marketing?

I'm looking to create my first squeeze page. I don't know what to promote. Should I promote a free gift? an ebook? a service? a specific topic for interesting information? What's something good for me to start with. Also how could I relate my followup emails to it? Thankyou

Free good quality ebook will do the work.
You can find alot of PLR content to use them as your gift.

You really need to narrow down a niche before you begin!

I would really look around the forum and do some reading to get your head around some internet marketing basics. There is a lot of free information available.

    Hope that helps!

    Decide on your niche.
Find out what people want help with.
Decide what help you can offer (your own product ideally or affiliate one).
Then create a free gift that fits with that - gives value but not everything.
Build a trusting relationship in your emails - valuable content.
    Promote/Offer your relevant product.
Keep it all related to why someone signed.

This is "Your" business and this is a basic decision that "You" have to make.

Before you create a squeeze page and offer anything for free as opt-in incentive you first have to decide what products you're going to sell. The product or services you plan on promoting to the list you build should be closely related to the product or service you offer for free.

If your end goal is to promote make money online stuff, make sure the "free gift" you offer has to do with making money online.

One more important piece of advice...
Make sure you offer something of high quality even though it's free. If you make people give you their email and in return you send them junk, they'll never open your follow up emails and all the work goes down the drain.

The root word here, my friend, is *make*.

If you have to *make* people do anything
          to get something for free...

          ...is it really free?

          Newapplause...

...truth is no one can give you SPECIFIC
answers on where or how to start.

          We know nothing about you.

          ...your interests.

          ...your desires.

          ...and your unique goals.

What I 'can' give you is a guide on how
*I* do it, and if it resonates with you,
          awesome sauce.

If not, at least you know one way NOT
          to do it.

My strategy is simple, so the first rule
          is:

          #1. Keep it simple.

The BEST approach, in my experience,
          is the simplest.

If you have to take a bajillion tiny steps
          to reach a specific goal...

...create or find a better strategy.

          #2. Promote ONLY recurring/big ticket
          products.

They're the ONLY products, as an affiliate,
          worth your time.

          Ideally...

...promote your own products, but start
as an affiliate FIRST fine tuning your sales
          funnel.

          #3. Make the topic SPECIFIC

The shotgun approach doesn't work here.

Brand advertising, yes. For your purposes,
          it needs to be FOCUSED.

Focus on ONE topic and ONE topic alone.

What you should talk about comes down
          to two things:

What YOUR interested in talking about.

...and if there's a market for it.

You are making a rookie mistake of not having a plan. Don't worry most of us have been there at some point. Find a subject that you are interested in and if you are unsure here is a tip. Go to your local newsagent, the type that have several shelves of magazines. Have a look through them and this will give you some ideas. Now if there is a magazine centered around a niche you can bet your bottom dollar that it is a buyers market, because publishers don't tend to spend otherwise.

Either get some plr on the chosen subject or write your own which is not as hard as it first seems. You can do this by reading the magazines and solving a few obvious questions being asked. If it is a subject that you are already interested then you will already know quite a bit.
Tie this in with a few follow emails and you are away. Pm me if you have any questions, I am always happy to help when I can.

instead on focusing on what to give, focus on what would be a good headline and base your free offer on that. Find a PLR or Make an ebook yourself(not hard).

I also consider what kind of sales offer would work after they opt in for their free stuff.

Pick your niche, select your target audience in that niche and write to them. Once you've identified your plan for what you will sell and how the logistics work for all this, then you'll know what to offer them on the squeeze page. If you know your "Avatar," your target market well enough then knowing what to offer will be easy.

you know what, I've tested this out many times. With and without a free gift and taking them directly to a sale letter or sales video.

To my surprise not giving a free gift actually works very well. It something I rarely do anymore. You actually shouldn't be giving away anything or teaching anything until you are making money or getting some results

The first thing I teach my coaching students that are PURE BEGINNERS students, is to link directly to the sales video or sales letter after optin, and create simple emails that create curiosity and desire without teaching.

Until you're getting results, that's when you can start to offer free gifts and training.

You may not value your subscribers email...

      ...but *they* do.

Because giving you their email represents
      their *time*.

      Giving an email...

      ...gives you their attention...

      ...which gives you their time.

And what better better currency is there
      than time?

When they give you their email, they are
      inviting you into their inbox.

So they have a right to be guarded of their
      email address...

...as much as they have a right to guard
      their homes.

      Nonetheless...

      ...we can agree to disagree.

Software has the most perceived value...

    Then videos....

Then "cheat sheets" like Mind Maps, etc

Then the least perceived value is for ebooks...

So, if possible you should find a software to give away or it that isn't an option you need to create some video training...

The key is to make sure what you are offering has value to the visitor. Do this and you are on the way to building a healthy and happy list.

    Good luck.

    Cheers,
    Coby

Kayfrank really dialled in a solid response - choose a niche first.
All I'd add is make sure the niche is something YOU'RE passionate about, because that'll keep you interested and focused. And once you're there you'll be able to find PLR and freebies just about anywhere that you can offer on your squeeze page.

'Free' for the sake of building a list isn't going to build a trusting relationship with that list. 'Free' but relevant and informed content is going to get you moving towards your goals.

Choose a niche. What exactly are you going to sell? Don't spread yourself too much. Have you observed how the experts have a domain for each product? I suggest you do the same.

Learn how to find a profitable niche first then promote via your squeeze page. Your free gift MUST be something related to what you're promoting. In other words, if your squeeze page is promoting Facebook marketing don't give an ebook about training dogs as a free gift.
