I'm interested in buying a website however I suspect he's popping the Google analytics code from some of his very busy sites to make it seem like he's getting more traffic than he really is. How can I verify he is not doing this?

You should have him add your gmail address to his Google Analytics account. This will let you login to his GA and see for yourself what the traffic is. Also you can look him up on Compete.com |

Hi John, if you can get him to let you see his GA account then you can do the following: 1. Go to View Report and on the left menu select 'Custom Reporting' 2. Click on '+ Create new custom report' 3. Then select 'Content' from blue sub-menu named 'Metrics' 4. Click and drag the 'Unique pageviews' to the first from the left blue dotted rectangle named 'Metrics' 5. Select 'Content' from the green sub-menu named 'Dimensions' 6. Click and drag 'Page' to the green dotted rectangle named 'Dimensions' 7. Click 'Create Report' 8. Set the dates you want, for example 'Last Month', 'Last Year' etc. You'll be able to see how much unique visitors this guide had broken down to every single page. Hope this helps. I would make you a quick screenshot video to show you how to do this, but I haven't installed Camtasia on my new laptop. :/ But if you have any questions, feel free to ask me here. ![]() Take care, Davor Debrecin. |

Thanks Davor, I followed your directions. This works, but it does not show you the external referrer domains. Why Google does not include this is beyond me.

As Mark said, you can't find that out. But use this to see if the guy is telling you the truth or not. I advise you to check out how well is he monetizing the site. Maybe he is telling you the truth, but these visitors aren't buying. Glad I could help, take care! |
