Running a state local classified ad website

I would like to state that I do understand that running a local classified ad website with today's competition is difficult.

So far I've been able to accomplish 2.3k local Facebook likes, 2.8k local members for the group, I range anywhere from 14-300 local website views, and accumulated 86$ in google adsense.

I've taken listings off CraigsList and posted it on my page, have created cover photos for other local groups as long as they let me implement my website on the design, I've even started a small business directory.

My questions are:
How can I convince users to register to the website?
How can I convince my Facebook group users to register on the website?
What other measures can I take to advertise the website?
Tips??

    Hi,

I am not an expert on the subject so please take the advice with a pinch of salt.

I think what you could do is connect with local businesses and give them a profile page. It should be an easy sell if you offer it for free. Then you request them that with a bit of support from them you will be able to drive local targeted traffic to their store. Once they are in, ask them to offer discounts to people coming through your website. Then use that to create some kind of coupon that's publicized on your site. Ask your Facebook users to leverage on that and avail the discounts...that will give them enough impetus to share it with near and dear ones who can save a few bucks in their favorite local store.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers

MY best advice is to attend your local Chamber of Commerce and get the local business people on the website. Keep expanding out to others and it will grow. I know at our Chamber of Commerce people love doing business with people at those meetings. It is encouraged.
