Default The Purpose of your Blog

So what do you consider to be the purpose of your blog? Do you blog for the fun of blogging, or was your original idea about making money? Do you write to inform or educate people, or maybe even to just make them laugh? Or do you write blog to generate guaranteed web site traffic?

I won't go into details about my old blog but it was a bit of a slow burner for me.

But I mean to get into blogging more seriously soon, and I'm reading up on it for the purpose of making money - or as I'd prefer to put it: the purpose of winning my freedom from the money for time bind.

Can freedom be achieved through Blogging?

I'd like to think so. As an example of how it can be achieved, do a Google on Steve Pavlina (I would've posted a link here, but seemingly I haven't a high enough post count yet! Bummer)

I have a number of different blogs that I use for different reasons...some are autoblogs some I only post my own original content.

1. making money via adsense, promoting my own products, promoting affiliate products etc.

2. list building

3. letting my students/parents know what the homework is for the week (I am a school teacher).

4. providing link juice to my other sites...

To give free information away because I'm bored sometimes... It's not really part of my business model, but I am building a list from it.

NYC is my home.

The blog in my sig file is just what I use to fluff my ego every now and then. ;-P

I really don't care if I make money with it. I'd rather focus on article marketing, building lists, product creation, etc...

Perhaps I'll take it more serious someday or just let it go altogether. My intention is that someone either gets inspired by it or learns something that betters their life in any way. If it does that for just 1 person, it's done it's job.

Pavlina's one of my heroes! He's definitely reflected in my blog's content.
