Default Where can I buy non-professional looking images/portraites of people?

Hi,

Does anybody know where I can buy non-professional looking images of people - the type that you might come across on affiliate blogs/sites?

Websites like istockphoto.com sell very professional looking images and I am after the exact opposite.

Thanks in advance.

Give istockphoto a try. I've purchased all my photos from them

Reasonable prices, tons of choices.

Cheers!

Folks who are recommending iStockphoto: check the OP... the poster states that's a site that has images which are the OPPOSITE of what they're looking for.

I use bigstockphoto as well, they are mixed in with everything else, but I do find them. I usually use non professional looking shots. You can also find them at everystockphoto.com.

stock.xchng is what I use for pictures that are not as professional. You'll have a high chance of finding what you're looking for there.

Tough call. You are right all the stock agencies go for pro style.

It's too bad you can't buy pictures from flickr

How many shots do you need? Maybe you could hire it out on craigslist for $5 per image or something

If you just go to Bing or Google and click images and type in people it will give you all the free images you want, however do be careful that they are not copyrighted pictures. But if you want to be safe you will have to purchase them.

Steven, the OP is mistaken.

OZ, I get a lot of pictures from Istock that are similar to photos that are naturally taken, eg, they look like everyday folks. I can't stand those corporate style poses for my needs.

It may come down to the keywords that you choose when you are looking for photos. Perhaps if you tried different keywords you would be able to search different photos.

Just food for thought...

I've wondered the same thing. It seems like marketers AND consumers are always complaining about the "stock photo" look. After all, sometime we want things to look genuine, not like a stock photo. But sites like Istockphoto won't accept a photo into their collection unless it looks like a stock photo. I've even thought about starting a non-stock photo site. In fact I registered unstockphoto.com. I just haven't had time to develop it yet.

In the mean time, I've found flickr can be a good source, as long as you're not using it in a product. Just look for photos that are designated as free to use (creative commons or public domain). You can use them on your website, just not in a product for resale unless it's 100% public domain.

Beyond that I do use snapshots that I've taken over the years.
