Tagline for Local Community Website

I am building an interactive community based website. It will include all local news links as well as state, us, entertainment, etc. from all the big dogs (rss feeds). There are classifieds, business directory where users rate and review, forum, events, weather, facebook interface, etc. What differentiates my site from the local news businesses, is that users can publish their own contents - whether it's a birthday wish, wedding announcement, news tips, pics, car dealers post inventory and specials, blog postings where businesses can write about their niche, etc. So most of the content will come from the community. It's called LiveXXX.com (the XXX represent the area name) So I'm trying to figure out a tagline so users will understand what it's about. I've tossed around the following but I don't want it to appear that it is primarily a news site (because there are several of those around and I won't be able to compete- been there, done that) :

your community - your news - NOW
your community - your views - NOW
all things XXX
news - reviews - views

Any ideas or input is greatly appreciated.
Oh yeah, ad revenue from banners and newsletter are the primary means for generating revenue. Any other revenue generating ideas are greatly appreciated.

    And how about:
    xxx Online & Interactive

Short and to the point. Plus shows people they can look it up anytime, anywhere, and the interactive term indicates they can contribute as well.

Having been a part of news sites in the past, I can tell you that you are going to have a very difficult time trying to get traction in the news space if you are simply going to blend general news from RSS feeds with local user input, especially given the fact that you are trying to be so broad in your reach.

For the little guy, niche news works way better, especially given the more focused and passionate niche audience. When you go after niche news, you exponentially reduce your competition. General news is way too "available" online from the big news sites. You will have a rough time trying to approach a general audience if you're trying to establish any kind of a loyal following.

It seems to me, your tagline is the least of your concerns right now. Dig down vertically into a niche and don't be concerned with anything "general" or wide reaching. "Reach" may seem important at first glance, but in the news arena it will be your death because of the already established competition.

    Good luck to you,

    Steve

Thank you for your input Steve B. Appreciate your comments. News is just the small piece of the site - maybe 25%. The real differentiation is that users can post themselves - classifieds, biz directory, facebook login, comments, etc ratings, reviews, events, blog listings, pictures, anniversaries, wedding announcements, buy and sell local, q&a, etc. While I already realize I cannot compete with the big news sites - I have yet to see where any offer a user interactive website with these features. I'm hoping with social media interface and an area weekly newsletter, this may bring the community to the forefront in terms of an interactive community site.
I would be interested in your comments.
      Thanks again.

    About City For City
    For City About City

Your hometown Information Source / Resource
Been there Done that looking for different?
    Its all about x Baby!
    The hometown difference
    What's new in x?
    Bringing x to life
    Where x comes to life

Now monetizing. Ads / banners are a good idea, however to start with, that will be a trickle. You might think about implementing a "Premium" listing in your business directories that have a more in depth listing to include their web address. 20 a year or more depending on your market

Basically going door to door to sell this service you will run into potential clients that do not have a web site. You can do the obvious and sell them one, OR you can create a mini site at livexxx.com/storename.

A friend of mine started one of these in Myrtle Beach SC and made a killing on the premium listings and the web development end.

Hope that Helps! and best of luck!
