OK, here is what I never understood...So what, she has 5 million people watching videos, you know what, make that 12 million. It doesn't matter...How does that equal money for her? Nobody is clicking on worthless ads her videos may have in them. That is the part I never understand. I never in my internet history have clicked on adsense or any other ads because if and when interested in those, I google them myself.

What am I missing? Are people just clicking morons more than I thought?

She's probably compensated by the brands where she goes shopping to (for the exposure). Would that make her millions? I don't know either..I am also confused.

Yes, you are missing something. You ASSUME things... 1 billion views of Gangnam Style made the singer 8 million dollars (yes, they DO click these ads). So, check out how much the girl made based on her views... Which means she is not a millionaire from her YouTube channel, but still, with 25 million views, she must have made 200.000 dollars. The rest of the money is probably from her clothing and jewelry line. Or, as usual, the media are blowing something up just to create an effect.

Good luck to her amazing way to start your life...but just watched a haul video, she's cute and bubbly, talks very fast and shows some cute (her favourite word) teen clothes. By the end I just wanted it to stop!

I love questions like this. It just shows you don't follow modern media too much. Not a bad thing, just you gotta get out of the house more... Gangnam style is a dance song poking fun at the elite rich people living in the Gangnam section of Seoul in South Korea. It's a fun song, a funny video and the kids love it. However, it became a cultural phenomenom. I'm sure you've even heard it, you just didn't know it was gangnam style.

Thanks for sharing. I think the source of her money is in the original post... "and has her own national branded line of clothing and jewelry".

The video exposure gave her the reputation to launch a fashion line and now, no doubt, her videos help her sell it.

While I'm sure the media is playing up the numbers a bit (they tend to do that in these types of stories) but nevertheless, good on her for making some money from something she loves.

That's something people in these forums and all over the internet marketing world need to keep in mind: you need to have a passion for what you do or you'll never make it. She also was attemtpting to do something fun then set out to make a million dollars. Have fun with what you do. It'll show in your writing, in your videos and in anything you do regarding your business. There's also a lesson of being authentic. Whether she's really under the tutelage of someone else or has done all of this on her own, she comes across as authentic and that will enable her to become an expert.

Marketing professionals and wannabe professionals the world over can take these simple lessons and apply them to what they do and will see more success.

Bethany Mota is only 18 and still lives with her parents but her YouTube celebrity is so huge it has won her fashion lines and more Instagram followers than Vogue, Cosmo and Glamour magazines combined...

The takeaway is that YouTube (and the Internet) has leveled the playing field. So an 18 year old girl not only competes but points the way for the Big boys and Big Girls ie Big business!

She is creating her own path, her own followers, and her own money... You can bet Vogue, Cosmo and Glamour are following her and watch everything she does!
