Formula for a Single Affiliate Sale

Hey Warriors!

Post your own recipe for a single affiliate sale in a new niche where you have no list. For me, I did it this past week - beginning on May 26th. I decided to try promoting Travis Sago's Magic of Making Up. Here's what it took for that very first affiliate sale:

3 Squidoo lenses (one of which was published today and is not yet indexed). The lenses had unique introductions and PLR for the other 2 articles. Took about 15 minutes per lens.

3 Ezine Articles (two of which were published today). For these, I used the PLR articles Travis has sent to his affiliates daily and I just read them and rewrote them in under 5 minutes flat. They were 100% unique - but I didn't have to "think" - I just wrote.

1 WetPaint page using a PLR article that I didn't change one bit. Took about 10 minutes to register it and paste it, etc.

I Tweeted each of the finished products when completed. 70 Minutes. 1 Sale for a $26.30 commission.

I can't wait for more only because I know I'm making a long term commitment to this niche so the more I DO the more I'll MAKE. Not to mention the pages are out there forever now, so they'll continue making me money while I do nothing else.

    My very first affiliate sale was somewhat easy. I found a product that seemed to be up and coming. I created a landing page that was basically like a mini conduit method type of site. Took about 30 minutes to put up and a "click here for more info" button. I posted only 2 articles in EZA that were reviews of the specific product and then I got two affiliate sales the following week from those articles.

    I discovered later that it wasn't always so easy, like the sales don't always come right away. But all in all - it is pretty easy when you are taking action and trying methods.

    Good Post tiff. I was promoting Travis's product in a similar way. Got to love those resources that he provides to his affiliates

      Yes, the guy is great! I love how he communicates with his affiliates. I think if all product vendors did the same as he does, everyone would have a top selling product. It's always about building relationships with other people, the rest is just 10% important.

    I don't think I've seen anyone as gung ho or supportive of their affiliates as Travis. He's pretty much Awesom-o!

    I don't remember my first affiliate sale, but I do remember crapping my pants at how easy it was. I think it was from a link I had in a blog post somewhere.

    Reviews or comparisons have been most successful for me.

    Clarification: this isn't my first affiliate sale ever - I've made sales on squidoo and EZA and blogs for a long time, but I always got bored with the niche, or didn't build a list. Or in the case of IM, I can make a lot of affiliate sales, but i have a list for it - but this was a case where I know I'll like the niche long term, I am going to build a list, but I wanted to prove it can be done for those who haven't made any money and feel they can't compete with the big guys.

    I have zero clout in this niche but I did it. So can you. Someone emailed me and said, "seriously?" as if it was pathetic. I'm not excited over $26.30 - I'm excited because of the minimal amount of work it took for it and how it'll continue working over the months and years.

    PS - I agree - I'm SO stealing Travis's method for inspiring affiliates. I'm gonna provide PLR once a day - spurs them into USING it.

      I know it wasn't your first ever affiliate sale - but in my example I just provided my very first once since it was the most simple to explain. I think it is exciting every time you make money for the first time in a niche no matter how small the amount.

      Great idea to provide daily PLR! I definitely love being a part of lists that really give back and aren't just a bunch of pitches.

    I was just trying to remember what method I used when I made my first sale. Don't think I even had a method. I do remember that the first sale was rather easy, but sales after that were hard. Should be other way around.

    i am amused. tiffany, when i get bored and tired of doing the real work that i am supposed to do, i come here and read posts, or go to twitter an pick on people there.

    but in your caes you go off and dabble in a new niche, create new sites, write articles and even get sales. all done in the same time i wasted here and on twitter.

    i love it.

    but it doesnt mean you are going to inspire me to work harder. nnaaa. maybe because i am male? :+)

      When I'm testing a new niche I always throw up a quick Wordpress blog (on my own hosting) with a review and maybe one or two articles. I submit about 5 articles to EZA and 90% of the time I get my first sales in a new niche that way.

      If I'm not 100% certain about a particular niche I'd test using Blogger and then once I'm sure it'll convert I create my Wordpress blog.

    I got the email you sent out, and thought it was cool. I agree that Travis (and Ken) provides a great service for his affiliates.

    Did you track anything to identify which of your paints/lenses/articles actually produced the buyer? It would be interesting to know the path that led to the sale.
